They both fought Diego and handled him fairly well (aside from the knockdown on gill). Just wondering how the fight would play out. maybe a #1 contender spot if pettis gets injured.

    Thoughts?

I like what I've seen out of Jury so far. But Gil is top 3 at lightweight. I'd rather see Jury against more top 10 competition first.

I like that matchup, and would be cheering for jury the whole time.

Jury definitely needs a step-up in competition if he beats Abel. The Miller/Cerrone winner would make sense.

Jury is nowhere on Gil's level currently. Maybe in a year and a half.

Gil is way way wayyy too fast for Jury. He can put his lights out in a flash. Gil wins pretty much 10/10 times.

I know they have Jury in the top ten, but he's never himself faced a top ten guy before. That would be a huge jump in competition going against the consensus #1 contender. Would have to go with Gil.

He completely dominated every part of the fight with Michael Johnson, who is currently ranked 10th...

I think Gil would probably pull it out, but it would be a closer fight than people think.

Jury did better against Sanchez than Melendez did.

Does that mean Jury would win? No, but he could.

Key word is "currently." Johnson was not in the top 10 at the time and is much improved since he lost to Jury and Madadi in back to back fights. Also, I'm not saying that as a knock on Jury, all I'm saying is his career would be better served to fight someone else before the top contender. I think it would be asking alot from a young guy like Jury, and he should be brought along reasonably, not thrown right into the fire.
