For the last 4-5yrs years he has been telling/selling his story. We heard already. Shit with as much media attention he has had over his career, we lived it. There is no mystery left in the Tyson story. Its played out. Time for Mike to walk out of the spot light. With all his talk now, just feels like he is trying to hold on to who he was, or the image of Mike Tyson.
They're only garbage because Tyson looks back on what could have been, where he went wrong, his own personal mistakes in comparison to his and others expectations and realizes it should have been very different. Nothing but respect for Mr. Mike Tyson, this guy was a phenomena at one time. We do not need less Mike Tyson, we need more. The guy is living legend and very impressive boxing historian in his own right. He might not be an angel, but dont forget, neither are you.
Sadly I agree. First it was the movie, which was fine. Then it was the Animal Planet show and now his broadway show. It's like...we get it Mike.
And that is I want hear from Tyson now. Boxing,Boxing,Boxing. I want him to break it all down.I would to hear he break down of today fighters, rankings in history, boxing comentator,etc.. Like you said he knowage of the sport is one of the best. But all i see now is him talking about is his life story. Which i really don't care to listen to anymore.
Mike found himself in serious debt, far greater than getting a job at the local shoe factory or fast food restaurant would be able to repay. On top of that, he has responsibilities based on his entire career and life style that the average Joe does not have to deal with to the same degree, sustaining or even breaking even in this kind of environment requires doing much more than just fading away. That is more hater talk, or talk from someone who doesnt take the time to understand just where Tyson is at in life and what is expected of him from Uncle Sam on down the line to his wife and children. So you have a man who was once as big as Michael Jordan, with a name like that you would be a fool for not capitalizing on it and even bigger one for not expecting him to do so. If I am not mistaken, Tyson recently announced he had dug his way out of debt. Im sure it was a long road, so much respect to one of the greatest heavyweight fighters of all time to come from the negative so many times in life and to still be here in the face of overwhelming odds.
Agreed, and I've always said the same about Ali as well. How many times do we need to hear the same old story about these guys? We get it Tyson, you're bitter about boxing because you didn't have the sense to keep the leeches away.
The man is in debt and of course will do anything to stay relevant/in the spot light to possibly earn some more cash...
Agreed, I get that he needs moey but he should bank on his knowledge of the sport, do boxin commentary and the like.
I'll always love Mike, can understand the naysayers though. Personally? Keep bringing it Mike I'm with ya.
If he thinks his belts are garbage then I doubt he's trying to hold on to what he was. He also told Dana White that all his nicknames were bullshit, and the way he said it didn't sound like he was depressed or bitter, he was just kind of laughing or shrugging off all the hype and was a different person. He always seems to surprise me, with his mix of neurotic behavior while also being the nicest guy in the world at times, being very knowledgeable and even-tempered with speaking about mma and boxing (not all professionals study what they do with real passion or really speak about it like that)...and this latest "my belts are garbage" thing is also interesting. I don't dislike Tyson nor do I find him uninteresting.
By the way I guess Miyagi had it right all along. A true master...uses his belt to hold up his pants.
