So I was looking over the Strikeforce to UFC list last night and I was pretty suprised to see Mike Kyle was not on the list. I check his wikipedia and it says that he is most likely going to retire after his loss to Gegard.
Does anyone know if this is true? perhaps if you've ever trained with him or that? I've heard the guy can be a bit of a butthole but I found his stint in the ufc very entertaining - his knockouts of James Irvin and Wes Sims were nasty.
Also, does anyone even care? I do, find the guy pretty entertaining but I've only seen him pop up in one or 2 threads before.

Ariel Halwanni tweeted that when Mike Kyle walked past him after his fight he said

"Its just not in me anymore, that was my last one."

He may retire, but I doubt it. Fighters are usually at their lowest points after a loss and will say things they don't mean.

Anyone who can take him down beats him and that's a really bad place to be at 205 in the UFC. And he gets the "bit of a butthole" rap because he has been DQ'd multiple times for illegal moves in his career.

His fight vs Olsen was one of the most egregious DQ's I've ever seen. Not only did he soccer kick him while he was down but he threw about five more punches WHILE the ref was trying to pull him off Olsen. That kinda shit is hard to forgive.

You had to street fight old Wes back then practically.

Very true. Basically two guys who fought like it was closing time at a bar instead of a UFC event.

    The Olsen fight was worse.

That was pretty nasty. It's one thing to kick a downed fighter in the heat of battle - some orgs have that rule and some don't - but how Kyle kept punching Olsen while the ref was trying to intervene was just awful.

Also, for what it's worth, Wikipedia has Kyle listed as retired.

It was a good back and forth fight and Kyle was in control before he snapped.

It was pretty close to attempted murder, didn't he also try to get Herb and the other refs off so he could attack the unconscious man more. I have no interest in watching that footage again but I remember it being insane. Seemed like a complete mental breakdown that resulted in the only 2 year suspension I've heard of.

Ya shit like that does not belong in this sport, really sucks to see such intentional illegal shots like that.

I never saw the Olsen fight before...maybe it's for the best that he retires then.

I loved his fight with Irvin though, I like Irvin and all but I thought it was funny because I didn't know Kyle was at the time and I saw the pre fight interview and Irvin was so sure of himself I thought he would just run right through Kyle

Not saying it isn't true, but nothing is worth a damn on Wikipedia, lol.
