kinda sad i feel we didnt get to see near of mike browns potential he didnt start mma till later like 29 years old i think he was the first man to beat faber when faber was on a huge tear in 2008 mike was a heavy handed wrestler who kept his hands up well threw good shots to eventually get his man down

but by the time he got to big leagues he was already mid 30s t late wish he could have started the game earlier to develop skills earlier then wede been a much better fighter he now coaches guys and is doing a great job i loved his style sadly i feel he got into the game to late and it really takes a guy a good decade to really learn the whole game and mix everything together

Very underrated from my home state, always liked Brown

Man, I miss the WEC. I remember when heads here were talking shit about how second rate the fighters were there, until they came over and shut mouths.

Liked Brown, but was glad Sudo (a favorite of mine) took his arm during their UFC bout.

Isn’t he coaching now?

I’ll never forget Urijah missing that spinning elbow and landing face first into MTB’s hook.

shit happens dude lol he got caught after throwing a combo thats the most open you are in a fight is when you just threw a combo

chael said it best the other day fights get way to much shit for no reason a guy like michael jordan called goat will lose a good 20 games a season yet peopel still love him call him best yet a fighter ca be undefeated and called a bum fighting "cans" then finally loses and hes shit on saying he needs to retire hes a bum ect lol

thats the issue with combat sports the fans ruin it for people the fight can either go 2 ways and they try to match people up the best they can so i say as long as you dont have worse than a 5050 record in ufc you should still be considered great

sudo wouldnt have been able to do that by the time mike got to wec lots of wrestlers got subbed early n their careers after 4 years of training though they dont get caught no more hardly

Definitely our most underappreciated local guy as a fighter

He's getting his work in as coach and people are noticing though, good to see him killing it

I never said any of this stuff :D

and a very popular opinion of those who actually train

u do realize their are no submissions or guard mount side mount in wrestling right it takes wrestlers years to get comfortable with sub defense and knowledge since bjj is the exact opposite of wrestling

Are you in the fight finder? Because I am (I have ammy fights). I've trained/sparred/rolled with pros at the Bellator/UFC level. I also wrestled at the NCAA level. Not that it even matters.

Genki was a very skilled wrestler, with unorthodox subs, and would have given Brown fits even at his best.

Find it highly enlightening that an MMA competitor with this kind of crappy striking form is now a notable MMA striking coach.

Mike Brown both profits & suffers from the wrestler's base. Overwhelming physical strength. The success of such out-sized physique then becomes a curse failing to counters, and as shown below, against Sudo's competent technique.

This gif's value isn't the KO by Brown... it's classic Uriah Faber and his reliance on his extreme athleticism to mow down opponents.

Here a massive fail because there is zero brain behind his hurtling himself into the waiting Brown. And if there is one way to characterize Brown's striking, it's 'slugger.' Ouch.[<dunn]

How can they be the opposite while both being grappling? BJJ is bullshit.
