I dont know him personally or anything, but I often listen to MMA talk on Serius satellite when I'm driving, and he's on every now and then (was on the other day). The guy just comes across very level headed, intelligent and real. You hear a lot of different interviews with a lot of different fighters.... of course everyone has a different personality, and ways to express themselves, but if you asked me who seems like the mentally strongest fighter in the world, I would have to say to me it's DJ.

He's on point with everything he says, and he's just as on point with everything he does in the fight. Just seems to be a dude who's in the perfect place mentally, and has the perfect mindset and awareness, you can really see why he's such a dominant champ. Easily one of the coolest dudes in the sport, in and out of the octagon... sucks that most casuals are meatheads and cant appreciate him.

I agree with that. I've listened to a lot of his interviews and seen YouTube clips of him too and he comes off as very level headed, humble and cool.

Because he literally has a neck-beard and plays video games like Sherdog?

He is full of talent plus beating best guys easily out there,if those factors even works for you to get respect then being a real guy wont do any help.

For sure TS.

He and the division will likely always get shit on here for the most part, but I've always found him to be a lot of fun to watch, and he comes across as a genuine, likeable character as well.

He's one of my fave fighters overall.

He's an easy guy to root for. MM is very clearly a good guy.

Yup he seems very down to earth and sweet. I have a friend who got a autograph from him at UFC 130 and he said he was very friendly and chatty with the fans.

He seems like a great dude. One of the most down to earth and personable champions the UFC has ever had

I've never really understood why he gets so much hate. He's a great fighter, doesn't talk a lot of shit, and pretty much always keeps it real. I guess people would like him better if he was a loud mouth who got on the mic just for the sake of putting on a show.

The way he destroyed the olympic gold medal wrestler was highly impressive

Definitely one of the nicer fighters I've met. Also I can confidently say that he is one of the few fighters that I have a size advantage on (I'm a pretty small dude) but he would still kick my ass lol.

MM is bad ass. When I found out he was an avid gamer and streams Twitch I thought it was pretty awesome. He interacts with many of his fans through gaming. Here is something kinda funny. He was streaming some games when USADA showed up to drug test him.

Nah, he was asking 2 million dollars for the Cruz fight.

I mean c'mon, be real now. The UFC probably loses money with him headlining PPVs. He should pay the UFC

What he is , he shows it ... and thats a true mark of a true Champion

He used to be humble and likable. Not it's more of a douche arrogance. Almost seems fake but dude isn't doing himself any favors. Does he even xbx1 anymore?

All true. Great guy, great martial artist, great champion. However, paying fans generally not interested in this freakishly light weight class. This does not diminish one bit how awesome he is.

Wall of text but I agree with the thread title.
Ye who can read more than 140 characters these days! This isn't a book club, amirite bro!

Big fan of MM, a lot of people don't like the smaller fights though, less jeopardy.

Yeah, he'd make an awesome friend. Id like to smoke a bowl with him, IF he partook in smoking.
