i agree. No reason they cant just have the fight at 145 or 140 catchweight. If ronda wins, then awesome, if she loses then she can still reign at 135 and be champ while cyborg gos back to her 145 division

I have had the exact same views on this whole situation. Cyborg at 135 lbs I could only imagine is a fraction of a fighter of what she is now.
    Catchweight at 140 or bust.
By the way, I even think 140 lbs is going to be a crazy tough cut for her.

I just don't see a champion fighting heavy to accommodate a challenger who has juiced to build herself heavy. I don't get it.
If Ronda can fight healthy at 135, which clearly she can, and Cyborg can't make that weight without being a health issue, clearly their not equal in weight.

That's exactly what Mayweather did to fight Canelo

Floyd fights at 147....Canelo fights at 154....152lbs catchweight

a ton of Pac's fights were at catchweights

combat sports use them all the time....even champions....unfortunately, Honda is ducking the only semi-threat she even has in WMMA

He is right for sure, they will still push for this though like crazy.

A catch weight makes the most sense and even then idk how well Cyborg would make it.

He's right, but then many don't want Ronda to be challenged, they want her to beat Cyborg down as brutally as possible to prove them right.

Ronda would be the favourite at 145 too. The superfight at that weight would certainly give us a better fight, but it likely won't happen.

Well this isn't buying him much favor with the UFC, props for speaking his mind given his position

People around here bring up how bad weight cutting is in this sport, yet they want Cyborg to cut an extra ten pounds.

Yeah. The title is utterly, completely meaningless. A mere device to establish a hierarchy and set up fights. Boggles the mind that some moron fans still care about the title. It's all about the fights.

All true, and if Cyborg wins?

UFC just rented their top PPV draw to a Invitca fighter with no spot on the UFC roster for her.

UFC is not going to give the hype of "the person to beat Rousey" to a fighter who can't fight under their banner.

Until UFC opens a 145 division or Cyborg makes 135, I don't see the discussion of the fight going further than this for Zuffa.

The problem (and people always seem to forget about this... or they just don't know) is that Rousey fought 4 times at 145.
So she could do one more.
Anderson Silva fought at 205 three times. Why can't Rousey fight at 145 once more?

"Because she is the champion, the challenger should come at 135..." fuck this shit.

Move up to 145 and fight Justino.

One of the only reasons I could respect Demetrious. If he could continue to speak out against the UFC and their tactics, I'll become a fan.

Hopefully he drinks beers and stuns Dana White, then a handicapped ladder match as punishment on RAW.
