Imagine if Mighty Mouse challenged TJ at 135 instead of fighting to Cejudo?

Even if he lost he would have made bank and really had nothing to lose.

Now he has to try to get his belt back in a division with limited interest.

This, boys and girls, is a shining example why your bank account (that you leave to your kids) is your legacy and not what people talk about you in barber shops 50 years from now.

When you don't take money fights, in a sense you're putting yourself above your own children and grandchildren.

the real kick in the balls is that if mm went up to fight TJ and lost...... he would have STILL gotten paid and remained champ in his division.

Cejudo is never getting that fight lol
He'll lose the inevitable rematch with DJ then DJ, if he wants it will move up.
Cejudo is just trying to duck the rematch and make money while he can.

Cejudo is just ducking the rematch and trying to get a decent payday while he can.

MM knew this and that's why he never moved up.

The only way for him to make bank is if he were good enough to beat elite BWs, and he's not.

No notes to be taken there. He's just another freshly crowned champ talking about money fights instead of doing his actual job of defending his title. I like Henry but in this aspect he's just being silly.
 
Nope the UFC tried to market him already there was zero interest and his pay per view was one of the the lowest buys of all time if not the lowest. People want to see pure theater or heavyweights hence why Brock is returning and will once again crush PPV numbers.
 
Losing to Cejudo is a much better outcome than losing to TJ it was a close fight and him losing has created interest in the division where as losing to TJ would have crushed the division. And I think DJ would have lit TJ up anyway

Mouse had literally 25 minutes to beat him decisively. Instead he fought tentative after Cejudo dominated the 2nd round.

Well for a start he had a broken foot and snapped his LCL after the second. Regardless he didn't fight tentative he fought smart using footwork, angles and speed to outstrike him by a big margin. If he rushed in wildly he'd of been easily takendown and put himself at a disadvantage pointlessly.

It's called pricing yourself out of a fight (a form of ducking). You can't be worth more than you are worth.

DJ , will earn his biggest purse of his career his next fight. It's a fucked up economic situation. You'd think a tier 1, elite, all time great would lent get that purse coming off a lose, but it finally gives him a bit of leverage. When DJ fights they always need an opponent, this time to make the title fight / rematch they need DJ.
 
I understand the spirit of the OP, but I don't know why people think that fight would have made him BANK.

There is pretty much no fight involving the 125ers that will make BANK. People simply don't care about the ultra-small guys.

There's just abysmal and somewhat less abysmal.

How could he make bank, when the UFC didn’t give him what he was asking for. He made 430,000 bonus included. Add another $5 for PPV buys last night. Doubt he would’ve been offered much more than that.
