Worked on upper back tightness during the break. Really slowed me down. Some reps were ungodly fast some slow. Bench was just about getting some volume in. Squats for no real reason or at any real weight.

That might get rough quick. But awareness of those living below the poverty line is extra important coming into tornado season here in the.mid west

Bike
12 miles
Bear creek trail

This is a trail i run regularly. Its 6 miles across the north side of columbia. At one end is Rhett's Run a Mountain Bike course designed by some important designer of such things. It snakes its way down a hill thats 45° in places with the main trail running straight up it and the side trails crisscrossing it. Set a goal of actually riding up it since ive gotten off and walked sections of it in the past. I took a shot at it today.

And i epically failed. Got to the 3/4 point and ran out of gears on my second main and went to shift to my small one and lost all forward momentum and just sort of fell over on the rocks. Got cut up a bit, ripped a set of tights but nothing broken. Talked myself into trying some of the side trails but they were simply too dangerous for me since i couldnt see the ground due to fallen leaves. Did find a really cool swamp that had a decrepit boardwalk through it. Didnt even know it existed. Would make an awesome haunted walk but im not sure where you would put the actors since the bullrushes were so thick and the water too dark to tell how deep it was.

Decided to try to cut my fastest time on the trip back and put some umoof. Into my pace. They ran a half marathon on it last week and i found some new loose gravel and lost it going down again in a corner. Managed to get unclipped and kick the bike away during the fall though so i wasnt all twisted up when i hit.

The 455 was the fastest rep ive ever hit at that weight. Thought i might have had 500+ in me at that point. Set up 475 for some reason instead and slow.moed it. Never questioed hitting it, was just in molasses. My right thigh snd left upper back have some deep bruising from wiping out yesterday whicb didnt help. Still a weight ratio pr and just 10# shy of all time which was at 250# bw

Damn! Bike drama.

Nice deadlifting!

Like I said before I can only assume its due to the high level discussions about training and the overall dedication to fitness.

The bike thing is a little disappointing. I had been eyeing doing some more competitive rides instead of just casual self guided touring. What im finding is i suck at it. The baseline speed for most road events here is 18mph over a 20-30 mile course.(im no where near that) Mountain biking im even worse at and dont have the bike or gear to even consider doing. Being 200+ pounds still also puts me at a huge disadvantage at both.

There is kind of timed event over a tight road course called a crit that my race bike is perfect for but they are rare here and i only saw one come up this summer which i didnt even get to go watch. The big thing locally now is cyclocross which would been a serious investment in both time and money. Again it seems dominated by guys half my size and with bikes worth more than my cars.

The lifting isnt really going that well either as im most likely looking at another surgery next year or at least a serious reduction in training after we take a better look at my shoulder. Id like to hit a 545 dead before that at around 200bw. Im about 60# under that as last night i might have had another 20 but that also may have stapled me to the floor.

Bjj is fun again but the people who own the gym its housed in are at odds so its not an option. My old boxing coach wants me back in his gym teaching and I might pursue that since he's talking a 1 day a week commitment not full time training.

Im looking at all sorts of options of things i want to do to stay active and healthy but keep running into a roadblock. Basketball league starts while im at work still, my shoulder wont handle tennis atm unless i play lefty which i can do but im not anywhere near as good. Softball i dont care for and there is no adult baseball or football here. Golf is fun for drinking and hunting isnt my thing.

Maybe they have a seniors division at the double dutch worlds

If i really watch my form and bar path and keep sets short i can bench almost pain free. Hence the short sets done about 30 seconds apart. Still trying to get some middle back work in.

Had some extra time off this week so I'm squeezing in an extra workout on 2 fewer days rest. Still hammered the singles w almost a pause at the bottom.

Squats

I didnt track what i did and think ill just write out this session instead of log it. I warmed up with kb swings and front squats. Worked squats up to 365 singles which is roughly 90% and the first few flew. Felt a bit of twinge in my left quad and dropped down to 335x3 for a few then 315x3 before the twinge changed into enough to actually hurt. Dropped to 225 for a set and then cut the work out off. Worked through some stretching and mobility work after as typical.

Knee is a bit ouchy and the quad is still hurting. Dont think its serious but its enough to notice.

Also my gym now has 115 and 120 pound dumbells. These things are huge and i dont think there is anyway i could clean them as they wont fit where i normally rack a db clean.

I'm talking like Jamie Presley trailer trash hot.

Well next time try to be clear.from the get go, cause trailer trash as a search feild brings up some horrible horrible things. I must remember to turn my safe search on next time.

Hello Mr Midmo, I'm sorry your leg is hurting but I'm sure it will be fine soon.
Also you should deload to 135lbs and let me finally catch up with your 1RMs.

Thank for stopping by and what i take as a compliment

I hate front squat. Which means I need to do more of them. Total reps were about where I left off. Back squat felt good for a change although it wasn't heavy. Bench was OK, added 5 total reps maybe had a few more but without a spot I didn't feel like risking it. Wanted to put some weight in my hands so I did some rack pulls. 495 was gravy and I should have went up but decided to call it. +8" puts it about 4" below my knee. Shrugs will be replacing rows, although rows will return in a few weeks

Really no notes to speak of. Im trying to give my shoulder a break by working shoulders. Which seems opposite of what i should do but the hope is the stabilization work of db overhead will offset the strength loss from the inflamation and reduce it while remaining active
