What if it’s girls doing their sneaky behind the back bullying?

It’s not always going to be the classic school yard bully scenario.

When I was in high school one girl walked up to another while she was in front of her locker and dumped a carton of milk on her over that shit.

This is good. Hopefully more school districts follow suit.

True, I’m just saying if it’s 20 girls bullying 1 girl, like they sometimes do, spreading rumors, exclusion etc. etc., violence is not going to solve that problem.

;)
Good thing you aren't in charge of teaching people things then.

Im im charge of raising my son, thank god. And if any fuckhead teacher with an agenda tries to confuse him at an early age with this trans shit, is going to be getting a earful from me in front of there students.

;)

I heard the story on, you guessed it, NPR. The story isn't on npr.org yet but I'll link the story once it is. A Michigan school district near Grand Rapids has removed mention of the LGBTs from its sex ed curriculum. In addition, the district has removed mentioning LGBT in its anti-bullying program.

I say this is great. Nice to see a community not let social engineers get away with indoctrinating its youth.

Great to see the "freaks" removed from the Sex Ed part. I do not want to see kids exposed to that shit at an early age.

Let them grow up first, mature, and THEN they can make any decisions they want.

However, I am not so sure about removing them(LGBT) from the Anti-bullying program, though.

The fact that anyone is Gay, Bisexual, or Trans shouldn't result in that person being bullied.

Anyone old enough to remember the phrase "Live and Let Live" would realize that.

Let them live their lives however they want.

Are you concerned that your straight son is suddenly going to be attracted to boys or start to think he's a girl? I'm pretty sure that is not how that works. If he decides that he likes boys, it's not because he learned what homosexuality was, it's because he's gay. If he starts to dress like a girl it's not because he learned what a transgendered person was, it's because he likes to dress as a girl.

How would you plan on giving the teacher an earful in front of their students? Would you show up to scold them while they were teaching a group of kids? Sounds like a good way to get yourself arrested.

{<huh}

You think it's good to remove a heavily targeted group from discussion of bullying?
Instead of helping, it created more potential victims and led many down the transgendered route despite them not having those tendencies

I Have done no research on this
my first thought would be. The Muslim Community had something to do with it. pure speculation.

The battle between Islam and LBGTQ is coming.

You don't think referring to the gay, bisexual, or trans kids as "freaks" sort of contradicts your anti-bullying stance?

Up until grade 5/6 you could have convinced me that my gender was luke skywalker and I would have believed it.

Kids are impressionable. They dont need an added layer of confusion at a young age. Of course you are not a dad to experience this directly but thats ok. There are boys and girls and those are identified through biology not how we feel.

And thats it. If he noticed a gay couple and has questions i can deal with that myself. I dont need the school to do it.

Schools should focus on maths and sciences that they are failing at. Not pushing a transgender agenda.

Stick to the shit that gets my son a job.

Sex Ed seems to be about the one place in schools talking about the lgbt community, particularly different risks and protection methods associated with them vs hetero couples, makes sense

Michigan has a few heavy eras of immigrants from Islamic majority countries. Curious to see if it's a result of that

It's a conservative group that seems to be driven by Christian faith. Here's a blurb about them:

These parents formed a group called CAST — Conservatives of Allendale Stand Together. In a 29-page complaint to the school board, they accused liberals of trying to indoctrinate their kids with "radical sexual ideology." They demanded that the district ban any mention of LGBTQ+ issues in sex ed — or any other class. Not only that, they also called on the superintendent to throw out a reference to queer and trans kids in the school district's anti-bullying campaign.

They refused to be interviewed, but here is a quote from a townsperson:

They recently invited us into their home on a cold night, to talk about what's been going on in town. The VanderHelms say for them, this conversation is shaped by their faith. "I come from a biblical worldview," says Kim. "We were just, as you guys pulled up, we were reading the Bible together as devotions. So we do not believe God created people to have these desires."

The VanderHelms say they believe that being gay or trans is a sin — a sin that a person can resist. Steve compares being homosexual to "lying, overeating, lust." He says it's "no different than me in my younger days looking at pornography."

It was under the conservative biblical society that allowed gays and lesbians to finally be accepted as equals. Grant those that are extremely religious will likely still have issues with it. But let's not pretend that the United States's roots are not that of Judaeo Christian faith and values.

Show me the muslim based nation that accepts gays.

I'll wait.

That's a great point.

No need to specify who not to bully.

Do not need an anti blacks bullying.
Do not need an anti jew bullying.
Do not need an anti men bullying.
Do not need an anti women bullying.
Do not need a heterosexual bullying.

Just don't fucking bully.

Anti-bullying programs absolutely need to specify different ways that bullying occurs, that's called teaching. You don't just say, "Hey everyone, be nice to each other, Ok?" That's not an effective way to teach anything.

You have to explain the different forms that bullying takes (online, physical, teasing, etc). You have to explain some of the common reasons that people are ridiculed that they might be desensitized to and not notice (making fun of their weight, appearance, sexuality, race, etc). These things all have to be explained to kids man. They don't automatically just get all of this from being told to be nice.

All of this was taught to me when I was a kid. The idea that we would actually stop teaching kids any of this is just bizarre.

Yes but you dont need to say "hey be nice to everyone, hey be nice also to gay people"

rules should be broad. dont tease someone based off of any handicap sexual orientation, race color, creed or hair color.

And that's it. That's about as specific as you need to get.

Lol, what? Who the hell is the conservative biblical society and what magical equality did they grant the gays? Lol.

And why are you deflecting to Muslims when this story is about conservatives in Michigan? Muslims have absolutely no control over anything in the United States.

It's like you did not even read my post. I already explained this.

Literally NONE of that was taught where I grew up.

Was basically the "treat everyone how you want to be treated" and if you were on the receiving end of bullying for weight or anything else like that the way I was (most common being that I should be a sumo wrestler cause I was fat and Asian) if it came from like the A-team football players and shit nothing was done by administration to help me.

It all stopped when I snapped in the hallway and busted some kids teeth try to throw his head through one of those windows that has those steel wires in it.

Lol. Thanks for sharing this perfect example of a school system absolutely failing at anti-bullying education.

"My school didn't do any of that. So I was bullied relentlessly. So then I snapped and busted a kids teeth out."

You could not have shared a better example of why this stuff is necessary.

It's like you did not even read my post. I already explained this.

You will have to confuse me it sounded almost like you were comparing christian based societies (read ever single western society) to that of that shit hole of a religion.

Both started off as bad. One has evolved, one has not. We no longer need to discuss this beyond that fact.

I agree the schools should do more to tell especially younger kids how to behave with their peers. My school for sure failed at that which is partially why the Russian kids were picked on CONSTANTLY by the Native kids until they showed up to school with their 20 year old cousins and sent half the Native kids to the hospital.

That said, what worries me is the "weight" administrators will give to certain things. Even in school systems you can feel it where the teacher's won't do much to help that fat kid in the corner because deep down they ALSO probably believe "the kid is that way by their own fault". I know I felt it some when I was in school. There's also the issue I went to administration after being called a certain racial slur and they did SHIT to support me or go after the kid that called me it.
