I can see Olivera using his length to score big strikes and maybe get the finish on the ground. Chandler also can hit big, but I feel his length may not be enough, interested to see if his striking can be effectiev against CO. Obviously if it hits the ground or whatever, it could be wraps quickly. I have Charles as a slightly bigger favorite than the odds makers do, but not by much as I agree that Chandler might have an advantage in the later rounds.

Chandler sounds very confident about his gas tank, but if the fight goes over 2 rounds, it's a coin flip as for which fighter will have better cardio and can take the other into deep waters.
I feel like it will be a grapple heavy fight after a fast paced 1st round standup war.

i think chandler will tap.

Have to disagree. He's MUCH improved. The old Aloe Vera was inconsistent, couldn't put long win streaks together, had little to no heart. I think even the fading version of Tony he fought would have finished the old Aloe Vera. Granted, he didn't fight Tony or Kevin Lee at their best, and Lee is a bit inconsistent himself, but he just wasn't beating guys like that back in the day. They would have wrecked him. He's got a LONG win streak going now and when he got a step up in competition, he rose to the occasion, which he could never do before.
Lee was off a hood win I thought

Oliviera is good almost everywhere but I don't think he can handle the grind, his not going to go in a back and forth with chandler he'll break first I don't think I've see oliviera fight through adversity or won a war most fights he wins are pretty one sided which speaks to his skills too.
Oliveira has 2 submission victories in the UFC from guard

I'm curious what he means by "scariest". That could mean a few different things. If he's talking about a guy that poses a serious threat in every phase of the fight, then Oliveira probably is the scariest guy Chandler's ever fought. However, I think Alvarez was a stylistically tougher fight for Chandler, and if we're just looking at who the best fighter he's ever gone up against, Patricio is WAY scarier than Oliveira.
Oliveira is the best submission specialist I’ve ever seen in MMA, I’d personally be terrified of that guillotine if I was a wrestler

I know if you watch those two fights he got those submissions going soon as he hit the ground he was never in any trouble he was in control. I'm saying if a fight came down to when chandler hit him few times and keep the pressure going for 3 rounds would he be able to fight through that ? He tapped to strikes before I know it was a while ago but he never was in the kinda situation after that, I know chandler gave up before too but if I have to bet who breaks in a war first I'd say oliviera.

He’ talking about his BJJ specifically that’s pretty clear from the quote

"I trained a lot of jiu-jitsu because Charles is very good, probably the scariest opponent I´ve ever faced in my whole career,” the former Bellator title holder recently told Combate.

That said, Chandler believes that if he can survive Oliveira’s initial blitz, he will be the stronger fighter over the course of a five-round championship bout.

"If He can't get the submission or knock out really fast, he starts to get tired and that's where I start to shine,” Chandler said. “I have no doubt that my athleticism will be a turning point in a 25- minute fight.

“Charles will start strong but will get tired and I´m not. I hope to get a knockout in the first two rounds, but the fans can also expect a 25-minutes war.”

Nice to know that Chandler trains jiu jitsu now. Aljo said he trained with Chandler a while ago and that chandler didn't do any BJJ at all back then.

Oliveira is so overrated at the minute

Hope I'm wrong because I love his BJJ, but he's just had good matchups recently, he's not THAT much better than he used to be
Well, yes he is. He ragdolleda wrestler in Tony Ferguson, sure Ferguson is out of his prime but before Do Bronx couldn't wrestle.

Charles olivera would scare and prank Chandler a lot. Like punk'd style pranks and jump scarring him and all sorts of spooky scenarios. He literally is talking about Charles scarring the shit out of him.

Oliveira never goes to decision (I know, I know Ferguson went 3 rounds but that was cruise control with no adversity)

This is not going 5 rounds. Chandler has never been submitted. Chandler is a bull, he's going to push the pace hard in the first round and not take a step back, just like he did vs. Hooker.

I just think this a good matchup for him. I see Chandler by TKO in Round 1 or 2 as the most likely outcome.

Maybe. But Oliveira's stand-up is improving, and I think he may outpoint Chandler on the feet if there's not an early KO. If that happens, Chandler will have to decide if he wants to risk spending a lot of time on the ground or keep going for a KO.
Good analysis. Yeah, I think Aloe Vera is dangerous to Chandler in any position and at any time in the fight. He's got kicks and knees and flying knees standing. His hands are better than they used to be, and he's got significant height and reach over Chandler. Chandler could catch him early, but he's right that it's a scary fight for him.

I think the longer it goes, the better it is for Oliveira.

Will Brooks (who beat Chandler TWICE, by the way) had never been submitted until he fought Aloe Vera. There's a first time for everything. And I wouldn't put it past Aloe Vera knocking him out or out pointing him either. While Chandler's performance against Hooker made him look like a god, I see Aloe Vera as a different animal because unlike Hooker, he has absolutely no fear of Chandler's wrestling and grappling and won't be tentative like Hooker was.
