I'm sure this is a corruption free consideration from the Mexican president.
MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico’s president said Wednesday his government will consider a plea by imprisoned drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman to be returned to Mexico, presumably to serve out his sentence.

Guzman, 64, was sentenced to life behind bars in the United States for a drug conspiracy that spread murder and mayhem for more than two decades.

Guzman has lived in poor conditions in prison since his 2019 conviction, said José Refugio Rodríguez, a Mexican lawyer who claims to represent him. Rodríguez told local media that Guzman hasn’t had adequate access to sunlight, visits, good food or medical care.

The Mexican Embassy in Washington said in its Twitter account that it had received an email from Rodríguez about the issue and had turned it over to Mexico’s Foreign relations Department.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said “we will review it,” adding: “You always have to keep the door open when it comes to human rights.”

I'm the first person to say that our punishment based criminal justice system doesn't work and that the world would be a better place if more people had more compassion towards criminals as they've usually had all sorts of horrible things happen to them... But holy hell fuck this guy. Mexican drug cartels are some of the most horrifically evil scum on the planet. Many people don't know this but hundreds of dirt poor women in the Juarez area are raped and murdered by these guys - they kidnap them to use as party favors at their get togethers then kill them and toss them in the desert. I would have zero issue with this guy being locked in 2ft by 2ft cell for the rest of his life. Hope the US government tells them to get fucked.

Sounds totally legit considering how much better the conditions in Mexican prisons are compared to here in the US.

Wasn't he the one that requested to go to US for prison?

Is he still in one of these?

Are they just upset he can't tunnel his way out again, in a tunnel he can't possibly have constructed?

AMLO kind of needs money for election campaigns.

So Mexico arrests a cartel leaders son for window dressing when Biden and Trudy come visit...violence ensues. Then when the meeting ends, Mexico now wants to appease a cartel leader.

Mexico can't even do nuance right

There was a big prison break in Mexico recently and one thing that was discovered afterwards is that there were a whole bunch of VIP cells for major cartel guys where they could basically get whatever they wanted. They even had an armory complete with assault rifles. They'd throw parties with live music and hookers. I could see El Chapo getting cushier treatment in Mexico than he gets at ADX Florence
