MM career losses are all to BWs and he mostly got manhandled in them even Pickett bullied him son. Pickett, Dom, Moraes, Henry was always more of a BW and killed himself to make 125. Most his career fights are 135. Miguel also got robbed against MM and is another BW. Merab dominates he's one of the few fighters ever who has better cardio than MM too even ignoring size difference

I know MM lost to Dom for the 135 belt so competed @ 125 afterwards. In the UFC, I mean.

That said, IMO his prime started later, somewhere during his title reign of ELEVEN defenses.
He was so absurdly better than anyone* that I would favor him -clearly- even over someone as amazing as Merab at 135.

*Yes, he lost to Cejudo, another all time great. He beat him before, aswell.

Good fight. I could see it going either way. Demetrious is obviously more well rounded and skilled, but Merab is a grinder of the higherest order.



Say what you like, but in a fight with Merab you'd have to respect his punches as he's closing the distance to grab you. I could see Merab grinding him out or Mighty Mouse evading with superior footwork and landing sneaky shots when he's Merab closes the void or in the clinch. Hell, I don't doubt that Demetrious could take Merab down too.



What a fight it could be. I wish Demetrious didn't retire, even at 38 he looked like he had more in the tank.

Cejudo and MM are very similar in size, Cejudo beat him because he was an excellent fighter and executed a great game plan.

MM lost to Cruz because of size.
