Media Merab storms out of interview when asked about Umar Nurmagomedov deserving a title shot

I don't see the parallel between Umar/figgy and ankalaev/roundtree, ankalaev has already been given a title shot at one point. He didn't win, and he's bounced back with one win. Umar and figgy are both fresh contenders.

Just not really seeing this hypocrisy. Umar isn't a former champion, neither is rountree or ankalaev. I don't think either rountree or ankalaev have as strong as a claim as figgy right now. (Or even Umar for that matter) Figgy has multiple fights at a championship level against former champions and former title challengers. Sandhagen has never fought for the bw title. Chito has, and garbrandt was a former BW Champion, whom figgy finished as well.

It is close between figgy and Umar and I can see choosing one or the other but figgy is a guy who put on for the UFC over COVID and got many title fights in when UFC needed him most. His BW run has been great with font, chito and garbrandt all being solid name fighters at bw.

Dana loves the guy. He gave him this on top of his bonus for basically saving the UFC during covid.

It's just that nurgomamedov has a big name because he's riding khabibs coattails. He's getting this shot (and that fight against sandhagen) for that reason.

Fair play to Umar he won the fight, but he got pressed along fast because of his relationship to khabib. If his last name were ANYTHING else, he'd not get this title shot. he went from figting ??????? to sandhagen in one fight. Where as Figgy got to the top the proper way, beating mutliple ranked fighters. I'm aware that he's not getting it. but the reason isn't the best.

Whether Umar gets the TS has no actual bearing on Merab's career, so it's a weird thing for him to get emotional about. Whats even weirder is that Merab never threw such a hissy fit when Suga Sean got the TS by cutting the line infront of Merab, which actually impacted his career! Lol.

I remember it different. Sean stuffed takedowns, got up, and did damage on the feet. He fought through adversity and went on to murk the champ. Unfortunately for you, media scores and sherbro opinions aren’t listed on the wiki.
