Pretty insane to see how far Merab's striking has come; his mechanics aren't great, but his ability to follow a gameplan & execute his strikes with good timing has gotten very formidable.

Super impressive, he dominated O'Malley in ever facet of MMA.

The “humble” O’Malley that showed up

Yeah, I don't understand how some could say Sean did better for a while. Merab beat Sean everywhere the whole fight. Merab actually stunned O'Malley with a hook at the end of the 2nd. The same rd everyone is saying O'Malley did good in. Go back and watch with 10 seconds left in the 2nd rd. The UFC commentators missed it per usual.

Can't be true.

Sean has "phenomenal" striking compared to pretty much all the roster apparently. Lol

Just because he does flashy, spinny shit doesn’t means he's phenomenal.

His striking is very good. Well above par.

Phenomenal is reserved for guys like Anderson, Poatan and Izzy.

Dude was well overrated because UFC privilege elevated him well above where he should have been.

Ehhh, wasn't kickboxing. Not like Merab only stood with him to prove a point, that would be wild. It's same as Khabib out striking Conor or Chael out striking Silva. It's sort of because they are dealing with TD threat.
Doesn't change the fact that Merab outstruck him; TD threat is a part of MMA striking.

Marc Goddard literally stole a legacy and gave it to O'Malley.
lol

I dont like Merab fighting style, but damn that manlet is fucking effective.
Man that fight was what he was always capable of. He was going for the finish that whole fight.

I laughed at DC and Rogan thinking Merab was actually chasing the takedowns hard in the first couple rounds.
The second he committed he just picked him up and slammed him down.

Poor thinking by the UFC. Omalley doesn't come back from that one with Merab as the champ.

Sean's perception of his success in the 1st fight doomed him. He thought he was closer than he was and that he could make more adjustments than Merab if they ran it back. He looked completely shellshocked post fight. He never expected the fight to go like that.

O'Malley did not like those knees Merab was throwing when he had O'Malley on the ground.

You could see the fight slowly leave O'Malley's face when Merab landed one of those knees to O'Malley's midsection. Moreover, the TD's became easier for Merab after a couple of those knees.
