Great fight, a lot more competitive than many make it seem. Umar appears to be the only one in the division that has any answer for Merab's wrestling but in the end Merab's toughness and relentless pressure broke him. Hopefully we get to see a rematch at some point.

To be fair, if Umar focuses a bit more on cardio he easily takes this. Merab’s all around skills, standing, grappling, etc are average at best. He’s just a cardio freak that bc of that and his point fighting stalling game with constant holding and pressure looks like he’s winning.

Lol what are u talking about? Merab fought with almost open wound on shin + staph infection and injured lower back otherwise he would maul umar from the start 50-45 and he would finish him if he wanted to

I almost took your post seriously until you said Merab would finish him

Umar is 29 and Merab 34 at 135.
Common knowledge says if they meet again, which will be at like 31 vs 36 - Umar wins.
Neither fighter is exciting though

It is either finish Merab early or pace himself a little bit better to win the 3rd round too. He is not winning rounds 4 and 5 vs the machine.

People still disrespect Merab, but you don't steamroll a division for years without figuring something out that others haven't. I really enjoy watching the guy nowadays, I always like seeing something that other fighters have no answer for.

I just rewatched the first two round and honestly they are very very close. I see both rounds 1 and 2 as toss ups

Yes... I still think Umar could beat Merab on a given day. O Malley could finish him too.

I still favor Merab over both... and way more heavily over the rest of the division.

Gotta love Merab.. they know what he is going to do and still can't stop him.
