Meltzer: Early estimates for #182 - 740-820k

The NFL beat the prelims basically 28 to 1, and Dana would have us believe that the UFC will soon be on par with the NFL.

& the first poster that spins a very good number as bad for UFC/Zuffa lol

Yep, playoff games are the same as prelims

DOLT!

Apples to Oranges. One is on the networks station NBC, and the other 2/3 string sport network FS1.

If it were known that Jones was snorting coke to prepare, the numbers would be higher.

The fuck kind of comparison is that? Jesus Christ. Haha.

Really good numbers, especially since their product had been in a slump compared to their best years.

excellent move to hide that positive test, until after the event.

Dana's guess before the event was 850 000, wasn't it? Let's wait and see.

Man, this wasn't even close to the record.

bad luck that the fights weren't that exciting after doing so much work to bring in viewers ...

So we know what to do with the next big weighins...Conor needs to punch Jose in the face :icon_lol:.

That sucks. Not enough people know about streaming.

3 or 4 people come to a house & they order a PPV
They don't sit around a computer

Most people have no idea of how to get the comp to link to a big screen & they don't want to deal with the shitty links

$15-20 a person for stability is not a huge expense

The reality is we have NO fucking idea what the actual number will be, just what we're told by "industry insiders". Also the bigger question is how many will RETURN after that PPV...it was not a great imo.

Funny. We had been getting most of the PPV's that were doing 300-400k. Didn't get 182 (due to undercard being weak and other plans) and it ends up doing more than they've done in a long time.

UFC is dying, atleast thats what everyone on Sherdog keeps telling me.

GUess boxing is also dead cause this number is more than Manny does and is around what Floyd has been doing.

$750K is a good number in this era. For the historic significance of the fight it should have been over 1 million but the market for the UFC has dipped. Let's see what Weidman and ronda do.

Pretty much this.

Would this have broken 1 mil a few years ago? Probably. That doesnt mean the UFC is dying, it just has less demand. Demand can continue to decline, it rebound and go up depending on marketing, card quality, and some other boring business stuff.

Fortunately for them, they already got our money.
Assuming the winner of Gus vs Rumble finishes the other (or it is an amazingly entertaining bout) I think they will be able to put together a decent buy-rate... assuming Jones opponent hates on his illegal drug habit and Jones responds abrasively.

Cormier seemed to not really like Jones for whatever reason.
His opponent will have a world of ammo to use against him to provoke him.
