How does it REALLY work with previous 'issues'?

I had an issue within a month of moving here when we weren't covered, Sentara (I don't know of this is a countrywide company? or whatever) said I should come back when I had insurance and they'd wangle it.

Now I don't know if she just said it being nice or what but I've got the same potential problem flared up againg. If it becomes surgery I obviously don't want to pay 100k to millions of stuff where they'll say "but you had it before".

    How does it work?

I'm not going to die just yet, Sherdog. I don't think it's even remotely that bad.

I do BJJ 3-4 days a week without insurance. It's just a matter of time before I'm fucked.

Insurance companies would try their best to fuck you over, if they can claim that it was a pre-existing condition. I had to fight it out for months to get my claims through for arthritis in my back. I had severe back pain and had to get x-rays, check-ups and finally an MRI and I was diagnosed with arthritis in my back. The total bill came out to be around 2k. And insurance denied it saying it was a pre-existing condition. I called them a hundred times to no avail and finally I sent them a letter threatening to take legal action and they agreed to pay for it after that.

When you applied for insurance I'm certain the application asked you if you had any pre existing conditions. What'd you say?

Also, I'm going to give the most valuable medical insurance advice anyone can get:

Cheap medical insurance is only for people who have no medical problems. It covers nothing and is useless. If you have a remote possibility of something serious then do good research, pick a solid plan and don't cut costs, you will regret it dearly.
