Lets be realistic whilst it was fun to see the more extreme hype exposed the big reason behind a lot of the Rousey hate is that Sherdog is populated by knuckle dragging bro's who loathed the idea of a women being pushed as superior to men because they live in some kind of fantasy world where watching MMA gives them reflected toughness.

Really there were very few Rousey fans buying into the hype on these forums, there were hundrens of Conor fans though as he's pretty much ideal for the above.

Jones, at LHW, cuts less weight than most of his opponents.

Jones, at LHW, cuts less pounds (17-19) than Conor does at FW (20-25).


Conor is a product of marketing, a huge weight cut, favoritism, and new fans who know dick about mma.

72 inches at 5'9" is still really, really long for the division, but you know, UFC gonna UFC and exaggerate things.

Also, Nate is legitimately taller than Nick, and they list Nick at 6ft for every fight. I think Nate is 6'1".

Conor lost and talked inside the octagon seconds after he was chocked out. Then he sat at the post fight press conference and spoke at length about the fight and his defeat. Then he gave interviews to everyone who asked for them.

Ronda lost and disappeared. No congratulations for her opponent. No post fight press conference. No apologies for the mean things she said or respect for her opponent at all. Hid her face behind a pillow and vanished off the face of the earth. When she finally came back she went on Ellen and proclaimed how she was still undefeated.

You can call them both classless if you want but they are in no way on the same level.

Failure to address the loss isn't why people dog-piled Rousey. They don't do it to that degree with any other fighter, or even ones who shout down/curse/directly disrespect the crowd after a fight.

They were waiting for her to lose, then once she did, jumped at the opportunity to relish in it. That storm was coming, whether she spoke on it or not (and this is all beside the fact that she went to the hospital, unlike McGregor, who didn't even have a medical suspension).

That said, I won't comb through posts to verify who is or isn't a hypocrite, but it's disingenuous to imply that the fallout Ronda received was tied in any significant way to her post-fight behavior. It was feeding time for the animals and they fed. That's it.

Not really. Conor is an elite martial artist that gave it his best shot but he fell short. Every goat has lost to a very lesser opponent save Jones. Fedor to Henderson/shit-tier Werdum/Silva BJ Penn..need I say anything? GSP to Serra (much lesser than Diaz and much more devastating). Things like this happen. I understand taking joy in a man you hate's defeat... but separate hatred and reality.

Your criticism is devoid of context. The backlash against Ronda had less to do with her fight and much more to do with her as a person. Conor was'nt a saint, but his flaws were moreso in the confines of fight promotion, despite going overboard IMO.

There are all sorts of differences between the two situations but there are also striking similarities. And most of the criticisms of Ronda are for behavior which - like Conor's behavior - can be attributed to talking up the gate and PPVs for the fight. And it is at least arguable that she "soldiered on" more defiantly in her fight than did Conor. The big difference is that she is a woman and many men (and some women) are threatened by this kind of behavior in a woman. I will also concede, however, that her post-fight behavior didn't help her.
