Brought people into mma who would have never cared about it, some will go deeper into it, some will flake off. Just like underground metal bands brought in more money for themselves after Metallica blew up, Irish dude is doing it with mma and is opening the doors for future generations of fighters and showing them the way as to how to make more dinero and not only beat the sytem but to control it.

A sellout who was only good half his career?

Metallica had a long, successful career and persevered longer than basically all of their contemporaries. Yep. Just like Conor.

Conor Mcgregor isn't what got me into MMA. He was and is a happen stance. I will alway be a fan of combat and the art there of. He was not the best thing to happen to MMA but for what it's worth he made it interesting. Not any more interesting than it already was but interesting none the less

Dana White and Lars Ulrich are more alike

So, Conor is going remain in the game and suck ass for 25+ years?

C'mon. You didn't know who Metallica was before the Black album.

You may not have even been born before the Black album.

Their song "turn the page" really inspires me.

When I see threads like this, there I go, turn the page.

Metallica started out as a thrash band then turned into a mainstream rock band. I don't see a comparison with Conor who was always probably more of a boxer but still an all around mma fighter from the start.

For what it's worth, I loved watching Conor's pre-fight hype and his skills in competition (his bout with Aldo was the most anticipated for me in a while) but watching his ignorant, butthurt nut-swinging fans crumble away beneath a pile of excuses is just too funny.

You obviously put a lot of thought into this comparison. It's unfortunate so many thoughts were wasted.

Please play again.
