Mcgregor - Eddie Alvarez, a 'begging bum' with 'novice' striking

How does Connor sh!t talk a guy who just won his title and hasn't defended it?
I think Eddie is a better matchup as a LW champion than RDA would have been. I think if Conor gets the right match ups he can grab titles at LW and WW to go with the FW belt. Unfortunately for that to happen he will need two things:

First for Perfect Match Ups for his style to win the Belts
FW has already been a blessing in Aldo taking out Frankie. Little to no reason for McFlair to try to out do his 13 second KO
LW Eddie is a better match up for Conor than Khabib, RDA. Maybe Cerrone if he goes back down now that RDA lost the belt.
WW the only scenario I see lining up for Conor is if Ceronne comes in to a title shot as a last minute replacement for Thompson and manages to KO or sub Woodley.

Te second part is for the UFC to decide that their brand is worthless and to go all in on Conor. Him running around with belts that once he wins he will never defend erodes the worth of being a UFC champion and would be a massivve mistake by ownership. The base number of PPV buys is for the UFC brand and sales rise with the name value of the main attraction in each card. guys like Woodley, Alvarez and Aldo could all lose their belts to Conor and when he never defends them they could win the Interim belt but they would never be considered "The Champ". I don't think the New Ownership is stupid and Conor defends at FW or vacates.

I have no idea why people talk like Alvarez has a suspect chin. That is far from the truth. He's been TKOed once in 32 fights and that was 9 years ago.

Alvarez will take Conor down at will and pound him out.

and he showed a lot of heart in that fight before he got finished. Haven't seen it in a while but he was getting tore up with leg kicks and visibly hurt.

Alvarez is known for getting knocked down then coming back and winning. People saying his chin is suspect isn't founded on nothing.

He has a solid chin with great recovery and toughness. His older style also led to him taking more damage and punches. He's definitely shorn that up since Cerrone and the fights before that.

Conor's mind games on RDA definitely played a role in Eddie winning. RDA was way too wreckless. Eddie is a very good fighter but not top 5 imo.

FP I'm gonna color code you MOD's we need a 1/2 like option. Think traffic lights...

He gets hurt a lot but he recovers quick. Kinda like a Diaz.

That wasn't my point. Read what I quoted and posted.

Alvarez is a more diverse fighter.
I didn't feel that part deserved a response all he does is wail punches outside of that head kick he landed on pit bull in Bellator. Oh he also had some good spinning shit against gil.

Okay. You don't know what you're typing about.

I do really think your username is funny though, lol.

Getting knocked down is very different than getting knocked out.

you can have a glass jaw and never get knocked out fam. melvin guillard had a confirmed glass jaw before he ever got a KO loss. I like Alvarez, but this line of thinking needs to stop.

he has great recovery and toughness, his chin is a lot like Edgar's. Not amazing, but his awareness and ability to keep composed is great.

He's absolutely shored it up, tbh, since the first Chandler fight. After that was when he stopped getting dropped every fight. he was knocked down 3 times in the first round against chandler, then i think a knockdown or two since.

Although Eddie did win the fight he looked like Helen Keller in there swinging wildly against RDA. Conor would smoke him on the feet.

Sure. Both guys are very hittable, if it hits the mat Conor isn't getting back up.

I actually think Alvarez is one of the few top LW's conor beats. Khabib, Ferg,RDA,Cerone, and likely Barboza beat him an maybe sundly at that

Stomped RDA...LEL

It was a rock'em sock'em coin flip. Both were swinging for the fences and both took turns in rocking the other.

Conor is 100% correct. Alvarez is a wild man that wings in overhands. Conor is a counter striker that would pick him apart. I like Alvarez but Conor beats him

Doubt it stays standing, Eddie already hinted at the best game plan against Conor

you know your opinion on such matters is basically invalid when someone looks at your username, sig and AV, you may as well not bother

A few years ago I watched Eddie knock out Patricky in Windsor Ontario. He ran into the stands afterwards. I chased after him and grabbed him by his big beautiful sweaty muscular shoulders, looked him in the eye and screamed: "you're the fucking man!"

Eddie, staring back into my eyes replied: "yeah."

That happened and it made me feel excited.

This is the gayest thing I've ever read on Sherdog and I've been here long enough to have seen the tranny porn megathread.

Exactly. Everyone was playing up Mendes' wrestling, but now they play it down. Mendes has some of the best MMA wrestling in the game and easily top 10 in the UFC.

Unfortunately, he is another wrestler that decided he's a boxer because he improved his stand up technique and knocked out a few people. Before that his wrestling was very impressive.

Mendes is an outstanding wrestler, I think the other poster is just saying Eddie is bigger and stronger and most likely wouldn't fade.

He didnt get wrecked by Cerrone. Re watch fight close decision. Not to mention Cerrone would beat the brakes off Conor. Alvarez would tie McCringe into a knot like Pettis.

Conor has nothing for top 6 LW. former #6 Nate dominated him everywhere and will do it again so this thread is irrelevant.
Mr Striking Defence Cerrone would get KO'd in the first because he starts slow and has never beaten a talented boxer.

Bro he got the shit beat out of him by Donald. You're the one that needs to rewatch. He had one moment in the first round where he rocked him but after he got creamed. Also, lol at acting like cerrone would beat conor. Cerrone crumbles in big fights, & conor would be the biggest fight of his career by far. He would get stopped in the first. Also lol at nate dominated conor everywhere. You need to take a day to just sit down, get on fightpass, & rewatch a lot of events.
