I personally think McGregor should face the loser of Aldo vs. Mendes. If he wins, then he should fight for the title.
For now, if Cub wins against Edgar, he should be the next. If Cub loses and Bermudez wins against Lamas, Bermudez should get the title shot since he is on 8th winning streak.

What do you think?

Yes, we have already been through this, he is undoubtedly the most qualified and most tenured fighter in the division, compiling the most wins over the longest period of time. No partiality nor favoritism has been demonstrated in any way, shape or form here.

That's the thing. If they both lose, there's not a reasonable title challenger in the division.

Precisely. This isn't some two-bit promotion that hand out title shots according to column inches and social buzz.

You're god damn right he deserves it! I consider it his first title defense anyway.

...Frankie Edgar?

Based on a win over an on fire Swanson and a previous close fight with the current champ, I would go with Edgar. But there's almost no way Conor wouldn't get it. I'm also curious to see if Mendes wins, does Aldo get an immediate rematch? Obviously, he should. It's a seriously exciting division right now.

Aldo fight is in less than two weeks.

Cub vs Frankie is at the end of next month.

The champion's next will be booked after the result of his fight as per usual.

Conor is the highest ranked FW without a fight booked.

Immediate rematches - in nearly all cases - are absurd. Will the UFC do it (again) if Aldo loses? Probably.

As far as the Edgar/Aldo contest being close, could you elaborate?

I think Dana said something along the lines of "everyone higher ranked than Conor, Aldo has already beaten, we don't want to see that same fight again" during the post-fight scrum. So I wouldn't be surprised if Dana just gives it to him now.

Frankie, Swanson, Mendes have ALL had their chance against Aldo and have ALL lost .... give McGregor a chance!

I understand your point that for the UFC to be consistant with what they've done before, they'd have to give Aldo a rematch. That doesn't mean it's right though. They should make a precedent to stop these immediate rematches.

Whatever about McGregor, if Swanson and Bermudez win, and Aldo gets an immediate rematch, an awful lot of people won't be happy. Particularly if Mendes stops Aldo.

Champion's next fight does not always get booked right after the fight.
Aldo vs Mendes fight and Swanson vs Edgar fight are considered pretty close in time frame. So it makes sense to give Swanson a title shot.

Not when Frankie beats him......
