Everyone is bashing McGregor for...

1. Trying to squeeze the UFC for more money when he is already under contract.
2. Walking away with the FW belt instead of defending it against legit challengers.
3. Losing to a top five fighter at a higher weight class.
4. Crying about the UFC.

And they're hoping that GSP will come in and save the day, when GSP...

1. Is trying to squeeze the UFC for more money when he is already under contract.
2. Walked away with the WW belt instead of defending it against legit challengers.
3. Never had the balls to take any of the super fights at higher weight classes.
4. And has been crying about the UFC since he left.

Both of these guys have a lot in common. They both elevated the UFC as a brand. They both made Dana and the Fertitas way more money than they ever saw. And they both dominated their divisions. It's super lame to bash Conor while looking to GSP like he's a hero that's going to swoop in and save UFC 200.

Side note: GSP had 9 title defenses. If Conor successfully defended his title against Edgar, his next three title defenses would be rematches.

As I said all last night, everyone talks about how they're anti-Zuffa unless Zuffa stands up to a fighter they hate.

1. He can't use his own sponsors... the Reebok deal wasn't in play back then.
2. Are you fucking retarded? Conor never defended his belt... he won an interim (not real) then gained the real one (against Aldo) but never defended it. GSP defended his belt 9 times.
3. Conor didn't even clean out his own division... fought a blown up lightweight when he himself is a natural lightweight..
4. Crying about what exactly?

Zero bashing from me.

I think the UFC brass has been screwing fighters over pay-wise since forever. Bunch of greedy ass-hats.

Any time a fighter fights for big paydays, I am rooting for them.

Fight the man.:D

Slight difference being that GSP had a long and active career and cleared out an entire division before retiring. Conor on the other hand hasn't defended his belt even once and got embarrassed in his last fight. Also, GSP didn't pull out of any cards and announce retirement out of the blue. So how are these cases similar again?

Another way to look at it is: 2 of the biggest draws in the history of the sport/company have walked away leaving millions of dollars on the table rather than continue to deal with Dana and the Fertitta's. What does that say about those guys?

Conor has now managed to completely disappear up his own ass, fuck him, good riddance

.
1. When GSP signed his contract, it was under the agreement that he would be able to have his own sponsors. That has changed. So his contract should change also. How can you not understand this?

2. Lol just stop. Now a guy can never retire?

3. He has one of the best resumes in MMA history and fought the best possible opponents available from 2006-2013.

4. Actually he hasn't been, at all. He's been doing his thing. People have constantly been trying to get him to talk though. He left saying the UFC had a major problem, that needed to be fixed. He was right. The UFC is trying to fix it. How is that "crying"?

1. Having a stupid idea, mistaking it for smart, making a stupid thread based on it
2. Hating on GSP while pretending not to
3. Constructing similarities where there are none
4. Making up bs and presenting it as fact

It's super lame to go full retard while trying to swoop in with a thread and save sherdog.

lol to compare McGregor to GSP. What a fucking joke.

GSP's reasons for retiring were not even the same ballpark as McGregor's. This thread is a fail of epic proportions.... just wow.

Well, if we're going to point out slight differences - McGregor didn't lay on people for 25 minutes in his fights.

I'd have to say this is border-line fighter bashing.

GSP defeated everyone the UFC lined up for him to fight. No only won, but did so in his own weight class.
He defended his WW belt 9 times?! Every fighter he fought was a top 5 at the time.
Super fights never came into play until Anderson Silva was mopping up the MW division, and there was no one else to fight.
I don't recall GSP ever attempting to squeeze the UFC out of money, for all intensive purposes he was a company guy, and Dana was happy to pay him what he was owed. Lets not forget GSP was the first straight up Million dollar fighter, Chuck was getting that Bro money to get there. GSP was getting it coz that what he deserved.

Remember the McGregor vs Diaz fight was created in 9 days. It wasn't a planned super fight. He was going to challenge RDA for the LW belt.

I see you ain't too bright,

gsp wasn't scheduled for a fight

Gsp didn't take fights at higher weights because he was securing a fucking legacy, 9 FUCKING TITLE DEFENSES,
Your goat doesn't have a single title defense or a win outside of his weight class

lol to compare McGregor to GSP. What a fucking joke.
It is hard to compare the two. One guy has balls and finishes people, KOd the P4P champ in a matter of seconds. The other was a lay n pray decision machine who ducked a fight with the P4P champ for years.

Conor has now managed to completely disappear up his own ass

Gsp walked away without defending it against contenders? Did you miss his entire reign as champ?

That's the only part of this shitty thread I actually read.

Exactly. Great point.

It is funny that I totally expected this type of stupid response. Only fitting to match your awful thread.

So, now that you just completely contradicted yourself, saying they are completely different, which one is it, are they the same with a double-standard or not?

Well, if we're going to point out slight differences - McGregor didn't lay on people for 25 minutes in his fights.

So? What does that have to do with your original argument? You said these guys are similar and I pointed out that they aren't since GSP had a long and healthy career, didn't fuck over a huge event by announcing his retirement out of the blue, and now you bring up the fact that they had different fighting styles? Sure they're different, but they're also different in every aspect you describe in your original post.
