McGregor absolutely had the correct game plan going into the Diaz fight.

And he should probably have the same strategy in the second fight. Going for the KO in the first or second round.

Throwing 70% shots to conserve energy will just make it easier for Diaz to out point him and tag him, using his range.

Conor could try leg kicks. But does he have effective, damaging kicks to the legs, like a Pettis or RDA?

He could try to wrestle Diaz, but does he have that top control against a black belt?

If Conor will make adjustments in the second fight. What will his new strategy be to beat Diaz? I'm very curious.

gameplan isn't magic, there's no gameplan by which he would have won that fight

Nate is a nightmare matchup

I agree. I don't think he's going to out-diaz a diaz.

His best chance is to land a bomb and throw some leg kicks.

All-out blitz in the first round is the right approach. I think he will hold nothing back this time.

Getting into a prolonged kickboxing match with Nate Diaz is a terrible idea if you have Irish Wrestling.

RDA and Benson took Nate down a combined 11 times. Even Thomson took Nate down in that first round. All three of those men are world class MMA adapted grapplers with excellent wrestling and black belt jiu-jitsu.

It's a different game when that threat isn't there.

If Conor stood in jabbing range and sought to merely fire back then it would be a long night for him but he would be better served countering the jab by closing the distance and returning 2-3 punch combos and couple that with the side kick and the oblique kicks. That is the strategy that would serve him best in my opinion.

Connor has to get this done in 1 or 2 or he his in for a beating that ends, once again, in McGregor looking for the first opportunity to tap.

I hope he does come with the same gameplan...

I agree it's his best chance to win and if he conserves energy it plays into diaz favor

Word, my Ninja. If he tries to conserve gas, Nate will just up the pressure and pace. Mcgregor's only hope is to try to go for the 1st round KO. He can try to utilize the the leg kicks, but judging by the Michael Johnson fight, Nate is hip to it.

No he didnt. The correct game plan would have been to kick the shit out of Diaz's skinny legs. Instead of that he threw 25 spinning back kicks in two rounds while throwing hard left crosses and gassed himself. The kicks caused ZERO damage and the punches caused some cuts and many were good clean shots but Diaz was not dazed at any point. Dos Anjos was the first fighter to use the right game plan vs a Diaz brother and it worked. Mcgregor needs to throw nothing but round kicks to the legs and always throw in combos where he starts with punches and ends with a kick or starts with a kick and ends with punches.

Problem is my Sherdog brother, he has never done that in the UFC .

I only know one fight where a mature Diaz bro was entirely beaten on the feet and that was KJ Noon outboxing Nick Diaz in their 1st fight. You simply cannot outstrike a Diaz bro

So instead of conserving his energy it was better to blow his gas tank trying to knock Diaz out that which never come. Did you say that was the correct game plan ? Let me go back and read again because their is no way blowing your gas tank with no chance of winning is better than being efficient and being patient waiting for Nate to give up his chin at some point. A decision win is better than getting finished dude

Ok so he conserves gas against a better boxer and one to pressure his opponents, not to mention he doesn't gas, what other options doesn Mcgregor has?

Nate gave him his chin for 7 minutes dude and guess what jack shit happened.he has to get it done in one or like I've been saying since the beginning.he will crumble by the 3rd or 4th at latest.if he's not finished again by the 2nd?what happens if Nate comes out like a bat out of hell and makes him gas again in 2 rounds?

He's never had to adopt that game plan but if you have your fingers crossed for more of the same then worry not because I only get 3 or 4 predictions right out of every ten. There's no mystic Dietrich here lol

Easy to say what he needs to do ,but that changes when nates hitting him with volume combos
