On short notice McGregor is happy to go up another 15 pounds (155 - 170) to take on Nate?

Not long ago he was at 145 against Aldo...

The 170lb is a marketing gimmick. Whether the fight was at 155lb, 160, 165, 170, 180 it doesn't matter… Nate would weigh the same on fight night. This is very very smart marketing. In ten days, what Nate weighs now will be what he weighs on fight night.

By making it a 170lb fight is genius. He essentially fights a 155lber but gets the marketing pop for winning at 170lb.

all this means is he won't have to cut for weigh ins, not that he's going to weigh significantly less than diaz or that he's even legitimately "moving up" in a weight class. Neither fighter is going to have to cut. If anything it's an advantage since his body won't be physically drained.

It's a LW fight without the weight cut. They wont weigh nearly as much as actual WW's do on fight night.

You do realise that 170 is the limit for that weight class right? Anything over 156 is deemed welterweight. It's possible that conor comes in at 170 but he could just as easily come in at much less

Someone reported he was walking around 177lbs so yes he will cut to 170, just shows you how much he drains himself to Featherweight.

I don't understand why Conor was making such a big deal about the discussions around which weight Nate would accept the fight at. Obviously one of them was lying as Nate said none of this stuff happened, but I don't think it reflects badly on Nate at all if he didn't want to have to make the cut to 155 at such short notice.

Conor was going to fight RDA at 155. That's what his several month training camp/gameplan has been - and with less than 2 weeks notice he's going up to 170 pounds ?

How many fighters would do that?

Imagine Mayweather in that position.

Mayweather basically fights at his walk around weight. Something very few MMA fighter can say.
