He hadn't been provisionally suspended. He'd received an IV after he was pulled from the card due to illness, and the UFC (though Novitsky) had been aware of what was going on the whole time. It wasn't in hospital and he didn't get a TUE beforehand though, so it was investigated.

Hopefully he can get his health issues squared away and get back in the cage.

Amen. He's had a stunning run of bad luck.

Time for him to retire anyway. Old Claw Hand Mccall hasn't been relevent since 2012 when he lost to DJ.

Hopefully he makes it back before they shut that shit down.

Hmmm. Nothing against McCall, but he's dreadful to watch.

Feels more like he's known for his nickname than actual fights.

Might as well let everyone use the IV. What are rules anyways?

Just tell the commission you got "food poisoning" and finesse them into letting you cut that extra 15 lbs.

He can't handle cutting weight anymore. His body is literally shutting down when he cuts now.

Sounds like you're not aware of the circumstances. He didn't even fight. He was sick and got an IV because he couldn't keep any fluids down. He wasn't cleared to use IV's in fights going forward, he was cleared for having an IV when he was pulled from his last fight.

Not sure if we'll ever see this man fight again

Basically you need to be getting some sort of test done, or get admitted to the hospital. Unless you get a TUE first, which would be harder to bullshit for an chronic issue. Overeem apparently admitted himself to hospital to get one for one of his fights, which sounds sketchy as hell (why would the AC still let the fight go forward if the guy was in hospital the night before?). It was an issue for Ian, who didn't fight, because he got one at the arena or hotel, rather than waiting until he got to the hospital. BJ Penn got suspended for it for going to a specialist and not attempting to get a TUE.

overeem wasn't cutting weight or something like that, he just had food poisoning or something. he got better and fought, what's the big issue?
