Who else thinks the winner of this will be next in line for a title shot? And if not who do you think deserves to be next in line.

Hoping Maynard wins this and calls out Edgar again

With Pettis moving down, I guess it makes sense to put the winner of this fight in with Bendo, though I don't see either guy as more worthy of a title shot than Melendez is of a rematch.

I'm sure if Melendez got a rematch a lot of people would complain about to many rematches

I got T.j. + 180 on the money line.Hes a beast and I thinks he gonna upset Gray here.Lightweight division really is ultra-stacked.

Think Gray gets overconfident in his stand up and TJ busts him up imo

Grant is definitely a live dog. Maynard has only really looked spectacular in the Edgar and Miller fights, both of whom do not have the power of Grant. He won't be the bigger man either in this fight, which will make things interesting.

Probably Maynard UD, but Grant might catch him with something nasty.

Well Dana said that this match is for the next title shot so there you go.
Dana Aldo told Aldo that he'd get the 155 shot if he beat Pettis.

Dana lies.

Promising title shots to multiple people is like his favorite thing in the world, apparently. Who the hell knows who will actually get the shot.

My guess, if Aldo does beat Pettis and demands the shot, I think he'll get it. Aldo would be the more $$$ fight.

Henderson needs to be great in his last fight so he could sell. It would sell more if he did beat Melendez in a better way

I can see maynard winning a UD.

I also think maynard has a better chance against benson, even if just slightly.

Id prefer if the winner of this fight fought Thomsen for the number 1 spot. I think it would make the title fight more legit.

I'd prefer the winner of this fight be matched up against Pettis or Thomson (*or those two fight) and then the winners face off for a real top contender matchup that is super legit.

I realllllly don't want to see Maynard in another title shot anytime soon, but if he wins two more fights against the above then so be it.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "gets overconfident"?
I believe the facts bear out that Gray has knocked down/rocked every opponent he's faced, including Siver, Clementi, Miller, Huerta, Diaz, Florian, Edgar and Guida.
And he's lost only 1 fight.
Wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that he has "effective striking" and should have confidence in it?
I think Maynard/Grant might be a great scrap.

But the UFC wants Title Fights. They won't amend their Timeline unless there's an injury or other circumstances out of their control.
The UFC, much to your chagrin, has determined that the Maynard/Grant winner is #1 for their Title Fight.
If TJ Grant beats Maynard, coupled with his streak, he has the best resume of any other Contender in the UFC, bar none.
