What to do
Max # of reps within 3 minutes of Hang Clean and Press with 1/2 of your bodyweight

Rules
-Any type of Hang Clean (full or power) and any type of Press or Jerk (split, power, etc.)
-The bar may never touch the ground. The bar may be slightly rested on legs or rested in the pressing position if fatigued.
-A hang clean to press is 1 rep, not 2 reps.
-If your bodyweight falls in between weights that you have, round up to the closest weight you have.
-All presses must be locked out, however a pause is not required. Make sure you get your head through.
-If you fail a press, you do not have to re-do the clean. Attempt to press again to complete your rep.
-If you are too fatigued to complete any more reps, you must hold onto the weight until the 3 minutes is up either in the hang clean position or the press position.

*Please give your bodyweight and weight used when posting your number of reps.

I failed because of my own rule! I got 33 in and couldn't hold onto the bar anymore. I had no idea how much time I had left, but it was only 20 seconds! I'm thinking I could get 40 on another day. I may upload my video but I have to condense it first to get it on youtube. It's a .avi file and I've never tried condensing those. Any free programs you'd recommend?

My weight is 179 lbs so I used 90 lbs. It's tougher than you would think.

Edit: Got it to work on some trial version.

I already thought it'd be hard so if it's even tougher then it's gonna suck! I use FormatFactory for converting stuff. It's free and converts video (as well as audio, images, and ISO's) into a lot of different formats and is pretty flexible in the options area.

Nice. I like this challenge. Perfect since I'm working on my cleans too.

I think I might do a test run of this tomorrow after my normal workout to see if I'm capable of putting up any kind of decent number. If that goes well, I'll do a real attempt.

This was a lot harder than I thought. You don't even wanna know how poorly I performed.

In light of the embarassment, I'll get a nice low bar for everyone to confess.

I got 16 in first try.

I went too slowly. The holding the bar for 3 minutes made it brutal. I tried to pace myself early, but the fatigue from just holding the damn bar was not fun at all. I believe I could do more in 2 minutes then 3, even after making adjustments.

ooh cool challenge, i havent done any cardio in a few weeks but I'll definately have a go at this some point during the month.

Hook grip and/or rest with the bar in the rack position FTW. I'm really looking forward to doing this one. I may even do a test run before my meet.

The holding onto the bar is brutal. I don't think I'll fail at pressing at any point or fail on a clean. I think the grip issue is the worst. Next time I go at it, I'll probably rest on my shoulders a bit more instead of resting in the hang clean position. I think I can belt out 40, but I just need to tough out holding the bar that long!

I don't think I'll try this due to injuries but I really like this idea. Nice job, Oblivian.

I've never really done hang cleans before. I wonder how I'll hold up?
