Max was NOT knocked out. It was a TKO. His chin has not been cracked.

More of a TKO, but the way he was just lying there showed it was a violent TKO.

I agree that Max chin didn't crack completely, it's just Topuria hits that hard. But it will be easier for Max to get knocked out in the future as result of this I'm guessing.

I will call it a TKO, but the chin has been cracked. Max should take a while off and just make the move to 155 permanently. Less weight cutting as he gets older. Still can have fun with the BMF belt.

Regardless of what it was, it's a strike against his chin and overall durability. The worst he was ever hurt was in the Poirier rematch. Against Ilia, a shot briefly stunned him. Ilia still had to pour it on, but he did. And I think those body shots really hurt Max and brought his hands down. And then, a sharp left hand put him down for the gnp finish.

He wasn't KTFO. But either KO and TKO works, like Chito/O'Malley.

1) A TKO is technically a knockout, hence the term. 2) Many of the major online publications are calling it a KO because it sure as hell looked like one despite being ruled a TKO. Yahoo Sports: "Ilia Topuria knocks out Max Holloway..." USA Today: "Ilia Topuria retains his featherweight title after knocking out Max Holloway in the third round..." The rule seems to be, if someone loses by a TKO, you don't say he was technically knocked out. You say he was knocked out. 3) Ilia put Max to sleep - maybe Max's eyes were still open, but it was a waking sleep - with that first blow. Max was in la-la land. 4) Max had never been KO'd or TKO'd, so it's still a big first for Ilia, and for Max.
