I saw this earlier and just noticed the difference between khabib and Max. Max is cutting wearing just a t shirt where Khabib is wearing a jacket and hat.
I find it strange early in the week Khabib is cutting water weight where Max who hasn't had a training camp doesn't seem that worried about the weight cut.

what? Max is worried bro. You heard his nutritionist?? This is the biggest cut ever for Max ever!!

Am I the only one who thought it was cool they were cutting together? Also max is gonna have a tough time. The first 10-15lbs will drop easy but does he have the time to cut the last hard 15lbs. Well see

If I understood correctly (I was half-listening to mma hour while doing other things) Khabib went back to his old ways (making weight without a nutritionist, while in his last fight he used one), so don't be surprised if he fails to make weight, he already looks pretty bad/proven.

Max did not look one bit intimidated when he told him "honor to fight you, man" and shook hands either.

He already had that drawn out face look on MMA hour. So hopefully he's ahead of the usual non-nutritionist weight cut curve.

It is so cool to see 2 fighters respecting each other. Enough of this cringy trashtalks

If he’s cutting water now then he’s fucked. You don’t dehydrate four days out

Khabib-time = on the way to ER with near kidney failure while eating tiramisu in the ambulance

It's not always the water cut that causes that look. Less calories, lots of running, etc. can start making you look gaunt.

This. I don’t need trash talk or a fake beef to enjoy a fight.

Max would have had to have been over 180lb on the Fox show standing next to Cormier.

Well Tyler Minton is the guy in charge of Max's weight cut... & he hasn't missed one yet. Interestingly, Tyler is the same guy who managed Khabib's last weight cut.

Tyler & his team have worked weight cuts for opponents before... so it wouldn't be any big deal for him to do it for both of them here... but it seemz Khabib is doing it on his own this time.

One of Tyler's methods is to keep them super hydrated & drinking lots of water right up until like the night before... and only then is the water weight is shed if needed.

So Khabib seems to be going with a different method if he's sweating off water weight this early.

One of Tyler's methods is to keep them super hydrated & drinking lots of water right up to the final hour when the last of the water weight is shed. That allows their body to get rid of toxins that might hold in some weight.

Toxins? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm get me a quote because that's quackery.

Yea they do. Water cut on average for a UFC fighter is 10% of body weight, some fighters go as high at 15% but that's danger level. Khabib probably cuts 20 pounds of water and yes, it starts days out.

He spoke of washing out toxins in an article I read leading up to Khabib's Barboza fight. I attempted to find it, but fell short. He definitely talked about that being one of the advantages to drinking the 2 gallons of water per day that he had Khabib on leading up to the Barboza fight... all the way to Thursday evening.

Your "quackery" comment. lol....

Keep in mind that he's got a Batchelor's degree in nutrition... & further educated mentoring under Rob Wolf. He also came up through wrestling... and is currently a pro-MMA fighter himself, so he has personal experience with it outside of his education. His business is weight cutting & nutrition & he's never missed one with his clients. Khabib, DC & Holloway among many others speak of how much better their weight cuts go when they do it his way.

So maybe he knows a little something yeah? Throwing out terms such as "quackery" is really strange to hear when you speak of somone so successful & well talked about by the people who follow his methods.

Personally I completely understand his point on washing toxins out of the body. Are you aware that the body is attempting to do that 24/7 & the more hydrated the body is, the more efficient it is in eliminating toxins.

What is a "toxin." It is "something in the body" that has no use. It really does make sense to aid the body in washing out as many toxins as possible. Toxins obviously weigh something... & they also take valuable resources away from the body to store them.

Even if you don't care to understand the thing about toxins... perhaps you can relate to the idea that he gets his clients on weight without dehydrating them. That was the point of what I was saying... the toxin thing was just extra info around the point I was making.

Don’t try to son me with your knowledge and wisdom.

I know talking about washing out toxins is quackery.

Talking about toxins is quackery as opinioned by drs.

Now if you told me something about carbs binding water fine. Or causing a water dump by drinking lots. Or using salts to dehydrate. But ‘toxins’ ain’t binding shit. Your kidneys and liver do fine with toxins unless you’re sick.

Chael Sonnen with Dolce also used this water loading weight cutting tactic too.

You get your body used to drinking extra water steadily and in fight week you start reducing the water gradually each day, even have to get up to pee a few times per night until you eventually stop the water intake completely in the last 24 hours of the scale when you jump in the hot tub with lots of hot water and salt and you stay in that sauna like state. All this is because you are triggering this 'flushing' processes you pee the water out and go down in weight extremely in those last days.

It's this fancy way of cutting water weight without some side effects experienced in the other old school methods.

Depends on the fighter with what he is used to and comfortable and how he best reacts to it.

Khabib clearly likes the old sweat it out via running / sauna while wearing extra stuff on you.. the fact he is starting to do it so early in the week suggests he is either a tad heavy or really paranoid and whats to be on the mark earlier and be ready but the longer you are without water the higher the chances of complications present themselves.

Whatever dude. No one is trying to son you... I was just sharing my understanding of toxins since you commented about them. You seem to be upset & looking for a fight.

The quackery in my opinion is someone that doesn't understand that the body has toxins in it & the body is in a perpetual state of eliminating them. Perhaps you call it something different... but dead cells are a toxin. They serve no purpose in the body anymore & so must be eliminated. Millions of dead cells per day or more have to be exported out of the body.

Every time you take a leak or a sh*t... you are literally observing your body excreting toxins from it. One of the key functions of the liver in the body is to process toxins. (among other things) Being hydrated makes that process go quicker as more fluids allow them to transport better through the body.

I'm not sure why you don't understand that but maybe you could explain it in your own words instead of quoting me a google search. Try not to be so mad. We're just having a discussion here.
