I hope he doesn't but I don't think this is gonna go well for him. George Lockhart, a world renowned nutritionist has already said this is one of the biggest weight cuts for a fighter that he has ever done and this guy has to have seen some scary weight cuts in his day. Holloway looked huge next to Khabib in the embedded episode and even with a full camp he looks drained making weight at 145. Plus MMA is usually a Murphys Law type sport anyway. I think he's gonna miss weight and this will be turned into a catch weight bout.

Just watch as Max and Kalabib both miss weight and Conor laughs all the way to the bank.

As long as Max is < 161.0, fight is on (source khabib on mma hour). but he has to be 155.0 on dot to HIM be eligible for title.

says goes for khabib

I think he'll do it. He's tough and he wont give up, and Lockhart has been pretty reliable.

The ufc should make every fighter weigh in once a month and have som kind of 3 or 6 month weighted average requirement for each weight class.

If during time off you are 210 pounds during off season. You shouldn’t be fighting at 155 for example.

Would also help with dehydration. Of course this system could be gamed too but it would be a real pain.

I mean he’s got an extra 10 lbs to play with this time

Max is an animal, I think he'll pull the weight cut off.

That doesn't mean he won't be completely drained for the fight though.

They'll probably both miss weight and Dana will create a new title on the spot.

he wouldnt have taken it if he didnt think he could make the weight.... Max is a professional

Khabib and Dana are expecting him to that's why the 161 pound thing is in place

Max will probably make somewhere around that and we'll have a catchweight main event where the title is only on the line for Khabib

If he wins it won't matter because if he gets the interim belt or doesn't get the interim belt there is no way they don't have Max fight Conor if he somehow pulls this out

If I am not mistaken, Max never missed weight at FW.
I don't think he will have issues making LW with a week to go.

It is a lot of weight, but you have to remember that he was injured, so probably he is above his normal weight, so it is easy to shake those extra off as soon as you start to work out.

And he doesn't have to go all the way like he normally did.

I think he can do it.

You guys act as if this isnt a fw we're talking about here. I get that fighters let themselves go but Max seems like a natural ectomorph. I think hes 165ish soaking wet. The injury probably blew him up more though. Going from 170 to 55 is still doable.

LOL

Usually fighter say their weight cut is going good... even if its a lie.

But they're going out of their way to make Max seem like he's struggling to make weight. This is either setting up an excuse, or they're trying to cover up the fact that he's actually been in shape this whole time, basically implying that he was never injured and that this whole shit was planned.

If Max doesnt have any fat on him... this confirms my theory.

They should have told the nutritionist to just keep his mouth shut. They are literally inviting the commission to pull the plug on this fight. California likely wouldn't have let it happen to begin with.

I think Lockhart said this to help sell the fight and make the news for some publicity. Seems like the typical kind of "news" to surface before an event like this.

Now people will think Max is 3 times as big as he really is, whuch would be almost 2/3 of Nate.

Max will make weight...

It's Khabib that you have to worry about.

They'll probably both miss weight and Dana will create a new title on the spot.

That's the whole point of not stripping Conor until Khabib and Max/Tony get in the cage. If they miss weight or get injured, McGregor will keep being the champ.

I can't even blame Max. It's stupid they're making him cut 30 lbs in 6 days for 155.

I'd rather a healthy Max weigh in at 165 and give us a better fight. Why make it short notice AND deplete him?
