I believe TS is saying the UFC is trying to make the best of the situation from an economic stand point while further delegetimize whatever credibility the LW division had left with the circus show they pulled with Conor.

Nobody would be favored against full camp Khabib on 6 days notice, not even McGregor with the Stay Ready tweets. Anything can happen but any way it goes Khabib is walking into the belt....assuming he makes weight.

Of course the UFC is going to go with whoever fits their business best case scenario in this bad situation. A fighter with a belt, Max and previous lost to the champ is the best case scenario to still sell this card and setup something later.

If Khabib fought Dustin Porier, Eddie Alvarez, or Brian Ortega you couldn’t justify anything other than an interim belt.

Either way it sets up a superfight....

It's really not that smart or awesome. It might be for fans, but what does that matter when it comes to preserving his longevity in the sport? If he receives a beating, it's going to be far from awesome. Even Khabib said he wouldn't take a fight at short notice like that.
