Max is a hell of an athlete, but he is very much like Woodley, not in fighting style but fighting success.

Almost all of his wins, although impressive, have been over people who don't really mix it up TDS that much with great striking.

Ortega? Doesn't really have great TDS, good subs and decent boxing, more than anything though a boxer with bjj.

Pettis: Specialist outside fighterr with bjj

I'd say Ricardo Lamas fits the bill best here, but he isn't a world beater.

When he lost against Conor, Dennis and Dustin it was because they mixed up their excellent striking with takedowns. We have yet to see Max really prove he can handle this.

Maybe a bit, but his win streak against UFC level competition is still impressive as hell. Not to mention he beat Aldo twice, and Aldo is not a favorable matchup for anybody.

I agree with this... no I don't... I want to agree... but it doesn't make sense Lamas is a legit wrestler... but Conor ourwrestled him... it was a long time ago tho'...

It seems unlikely in the extreme he hasn't improved in that aspect over the last six years, especially starting from nothingness in his early 20s to age 27, early in his career track.

However, if he goes to 155 for a long period of time, he'll have basically no choice but to fight that type of fighter, since 155 is loaded with them.

He is definitely a pampered primadonna, he got the Conor path to the title.

Complete agree, Max is good but overrated
When McGregor was rising he had to answer the “wrestler” question yet with Max it’s fine if he doesn’t. Dustin will beat max by mixing up his underated strikes and wrestling, it will look like the pettis fight but max might be harder to take down but max will not be a threat from bottom

Thats the landscape of the division

He isn't fighting the rasslers because the rasslers are getting taken out by lesser versions of Max

Claiming it's favourable matchmaking suggests avoiding wrestlers but it's not like 145 is full of wrestlers, there's only Frankie.
You can't fight them if they're not there.

Lamas isn’t legit at the highest level
He was past his prime and is only a division 2 or 3 wrestler

13 straight wins only because of favorable match ups? He’s had a harder path than almost anybody else, had to win 10 damn fights to even get a title shot. He has 8 wins over top 10 ranked fighters. Come on now.

Which one of his fights involved a Kamaru, Edgar, Rory, Cormier, Mendes etc?

His downfall has almost always been a result of his takedown defense. I am not saying that Dustin is a Henry Cejudo, but he did mix things up well against Max and I'm sure they will implement the same gameplan.

He's also going up weight, so he will be fighting someone who has been making the weight longer (even if dustin is a former FW)

TS is actually right. He didn’t get favorable match ups due to UFC choosing to, he just lucked out and never had to face a really good grappler during his streak

What amazing wrestler has Holloway fought? The closest would be when he was scheduled to face Edgar

Not saying Holloway can’t win against them, but it is yet to be seen
