Max Griffen , Joana , Romero , Neil Magny - Underdogs

You can argue every one of those were the right side except maybe Griffen.

It was my first time ever gambling on MMA. I am in Vegas - I hit the sportsbook in Caesars and bet $100 worth of bets on the card.

Total Noob here, self-admitted. I would love to learn more about the MMA gambling game though.. I have read there is opportunity to make some money if you know what you're doing.

Any advice or tips for me & other novices?<Gordonhat>
My advise would be to start small for some practice. Research your picks through past fight, records ect.
Don't feel the need to play every fight on a card, find a few you really like and go from there.
Styles make matches like last night Madsen was a heavy grappling specialist vs a much less experienced grappler and it showed.
Try to determine the best possible path to victory for fighters you bet on AND against, it helps with prop betting like decisions, KOs, Subs ect.
Example I doubt anyone thought Yoel had much if any chance to sub Izzy so while the price was probably great it's so unlikely it's not worth a bet.
Best of luck degen, come join use in the prefight discussion threads!

That "Iron" Mcgregor photoshop you've got going on is kinda funny.

Of course they have a chance to win. I would drop a zero and also drop one of the dogs (Romero most likely) and make it a 7 way parlay though. Can you PM me and let me know which casino let you parlay that many and how heavy are your favorites? I have been to many of the sports books in Vegas but not all and they often change the house rules. Did you place this bet at the big sports book on Paradise Road near the Encore/Wynn?

The advice is ignore anyone like Dave Henderson who bets thousands and thousands of dollars and publicly quits gambling only to come back and talk about how sure he is of his next bet. Specially when he criticizes your bet size.

Start small. There is nothing wrong with $5 bets. There are lots of people that bet small amounts and there is nothing wrong with that. Also remember there are no locks, and MMA is volatile. Play around with different props and bets and don't over commit your bankroll. You will lose some bets that you should win, and you'll win some bets you should have lost. Go slow and win over time. Increase your bet size as your bankroll gets bigger and just try your best to mitigate risk. I know a lot of this seems like obvious and general advice, but there is no real secret to winning.

After posting I remembered that. I know that at the Westgate you can't parlay any fighter that is more than a -300 favorite. I also know that at some places (Wynn and Hard Rock [which is currently closed] for example) the manager will limit the amount you put down on a parlay. My first reaction when reading that he put down $1000 to win $141K is there is no way a sportsbook would let me do that. It's almost like the employee can sense that you have an advantage up your sleeve and they want to limit it. At the Hard Rock a couple years ago I was limited to $150 on a 5 fight parlay.

They have changed their policies then. I haven't been to the Westgate in about a year but when I was there last time the house rules for MMA was no parlays of -300 or better and it was that way for a couple years at least since I have been betting there since 2017. Betting in Vegas or even online doesn't make anyone a "baller" so I have no incentive to lie to anyone. Betting in Vegas is easy for anyone and means nothing at all unless you lose or win big which very few do. I was simply adding information to the conversation.

Sorry but your wrong. I've parlayed at Westgate for 2 years now. There are no restrictions on parlaying heavy favorites. When suspicious betting activity is brought to their attention they will put on betting restrictions or refuse to offer the fight. The rules at the Westgate used to be Max 250-1 parlay payout up to 10 picks. Now they are Max 200-1 payout up to 8 picks. There is no limit on heavy underdogs or favorites. They simply limit the payout to a 200-1 max.

All of Vegas has bullshit rules designed to cheat the player. The Wynn is the WORST for betting - the worst odds in Vegas with 6 pick max and 3 underdog limits.

You get far far better rules online. But then you actually have to worry about getting paid. I was literally stolen from - robbed blind - at Bovada. I started off with $200 and ran the account to $4000. Then I bet the entire $4000 on a sure thing. Bovada then put me into a bet I never placed and stole all my money. Phone discussions went nowhere. When I filed an appeal with the "Kowahaki Gaming Commission" in Canada - it was just a Kangaroo process. They sat on the appeal for months the denied it and refered to bovadas original reason - no proof bet was placed. It was just a dog and pony show.

Since then I have refused to bet online. The rules in Vegas suck but the odds are generally better and I get paid fast cash no questions and free drinks. No waiting for months for checks that might never clear the bank or alert the authorities I'm gambling online and get my account frozen. No technical issues. No outright theft.

I would prefer to gamble online but if I cannot trust Bovada who can I trust ?
