Mauricio Ruffy is EXTREMELY OVERRATED

I think they will match him with another all-action fighter like Jared Gordon, Afghani Gastelum, or Joaquim Silva in Brazil. Fighting a guy like that will show if he is a contender to the top 15 or just a spectacular striker

Ruffy was perhaps mildly overrated imo and I'm partiallly guilty -- he was so much more impressive against Mullarkey.

His chin is insane but thats about it. The only stuff he got off was when Ruffy got tired and also he was like TREE times his size, so how impressive is that in the end?

All this hype that has been going to Ruffy should honestly be going to his fellow Fighting Nerds stable mate Jean 'Lord' Silva. That guy's a fuckin' animal.

He won two fights in two weeks and broke both of his hands in the first round against Dober and still got the W in the 3rd round by slicing him with elbows.

They both fuckin deserve it.

Jean's just been more active, and is already more well known than Ruffy

Ruffy always try to bring something new to the fight. i think there was openings for flying scissor, but he want to throw other shit, like the tornado knee. haha

Ruffy said in a interview that he could end the fight if he had put more combinations in second and third round, but also felt his oponent was there to kill or be killed and started to fight more safetly. I think it was the right decison.

He also said he felt his oponent much more heavier in the clinch department and needed to put more energy into those exchanges.

If we think about it Ruffy is very new to the sport and is getting better and more experience. Look to Ziam, same age, but has much more fights than Mauricio. The brazilian stopped for 3 years after his loss and only after the defeat he started training under Fighting Nerds.

He will keep learning and improving. Do not abandon the hype train, guys. We are here to takeover! hahaha

How about James Llontop though? Christ almighty, i was hoping the Sher dog PBP had included the obligatory "and he ate it like a sandwich"

Something about non athletic dudes with no fast twitch muscles but have more FIGHT in their pinky than most speaks to my fandom

I know that Ruffy won the fight, was definitely the A side, and is deserving of some hype (even though i think the "fight nerds" gimnick is cringe AF. Yeah we get ot youre bad asses but you wear nerd glasses...) but i walked away a fan of Yamis Lon Top.
 
I mean, he won the fight clearly. That's all you can ask from a guy. He has stuff he needs to work on, but it's not like he lost. You're holding a guy to a standard that is impossible to achieve if you're going to be upset with victories. Especially such a young guy.

I appreciate the context, it makes a lot of sense. Llontop looked really heavy, carrying that weight in the clinch will definitely were a small guy out. Will be looking forward to his next fight, his style is way fun
