Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Gemma Arterton Joins Matthew Vaughn's KINGSMAN: THE GREAT GAME

Matthew Vaughn’s long-running film relationship with comic book creator Mark Millar began with 2010’s Kick-Ass – and now it’s about to come full-circle, with Dave ‘Kick-Ass’ Lizewski himself about to join the Kingsman universe. Actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson has reportedly joined the cast of Kingsman: The Great Game – a spin-off set in the early 20th century, exploring the origins of the secret spy organisation. His role remains under wraps, but he’s joining the likes of Charles Dance, Daniel Bruhl and Ralph Fiennes in the cast.

Taylor-Johnson isn’t the only fresh addition to the film, with Gemma Arterton also joining the cast. Shooting has begun, in order to get the film ready for release this November – sneaking into the release date vacated by Bond 25. Being set around the time of World War I, The Great Game won’t star Taron Egerton as Eggsy – though the star is set to return for a concluding chapter of the main Kingsman storyline.

“I would like the third one to be better received than the second one was,” Egerton told the Empire Podcast last year. “I felt we got a bit of an unfair kicking if I'm totally honest. I think in some respects it was [difficult] because I just gave everything to it, and then it was so quickly torn down, that I think I did feel a bit of a sting. I think in some respects it probably wasn't quite as well put-together a film as the first one, but it certainly wasn't a bad film. And when we got this real kicking- I think what I would like to happen is for us to do a third one and for it to feel like a worthy third instalment to what has been a great part of my life.”

The Golden Circle wasn't terrible but had a lot of flaws. I still have faith in Matthew Vaughn and that he'll bounce back with this Kingsman prequel.

I liked the first movie, but 2nd movie felt lacking but was still ok. I would watch this movie given the chance.

Didn't like the second movie.. less interested in the third but the casting of Gemma is a plus.

The problem with KIngsmen and indeed Kickass's sequels(besides the latter having inferior direction/writing) was I'd say that Vaugh tends to mine his concepts so well with the original film it doesn't leave much room for the sequel to do anything that new, basically the same kind of situation as Ghostbusters.

Mark my words IT WILL BE BETTER THAN QUANTUM OF SOLACE!!

I thought that 2nd was very disappointing. Wiping out most of the Kingsman instead of building those characters was a waste regardless of whether it followed the book or not IMO. Maybe it'll bounce back but i dunno...

I'm still pissed off with the way they killed off Merlin (Mark Strong). It was a pointless and unnecessary death.

1. They were literally just finished sweeping the ground for land mines. And conveniently seconds later, Eggsy steps on that one tiny spot where they didn't sweep it or the land mine detector didn't detect it.

2. Merlin switches places with Eggsy. Why couldn't he have just chilled and sat it out while Eggsy and Harry attack Poppy Land. There were only five fucking guards at the entrance. It wasn't like Eggsy and Harry would have a hard time with five guards. Plus they had the element of surprise. Later on, they took out an entire army of Poppy's goons inside the compound all by themselves.

3. When Merlin revealed himself to the guard, the guards reported it and Poppy said to bring him in. Why couldn't Merlin just gone along with it. They would have deactivated the mine and escorted him inside Poppy's office.

The Great Game is what they called the jockeying for power over Transoxiana (modern day Afghanistan) between GB, and Tsarist Russia back in the day.

I think that be a better premise to set the movie during those times. The fight choreography can get really intradasty.

Gemma Arterton would receive a licking for the ages.

I love these moovies but no eggsy wtf

Where is the rock - he would be great

they fought an older guy with a speech impediment and an older lady who had henchmen or robo dogs do all the work

We need the rock - a super badguy that actually fights hands on

How fn; cool would that e
