i keep hearing this argument.
the man was against the fascists of the time, and used his writing to criticize using language and science as political tools, obsession with censorship, the evershifting goal posts of interpreting history according to current political ideologies.

so you believe this man would look at what the left does today and think these are his people? that he would not criticize them using exactly what he hated most, as political weapons?
the current left would look at orwell and call him a fascist.
 
The fact that he wrote against authoritarian regimes (left and right) does not make him a conservative. The guy was a socialist by political ideology. The end.

Conservatives have being trying to co-opt George for a while but if he were alive I have no doubt he would reject that categorisation as he would reject the attempts to re-frame centerist and center-right politics (like Ameriacan Democratic Party or a Blair/Starmer British Labour) as "somehow" Left Wing.

So I don't accept that line of argument.

If he was some kind of conservative then I have not seen any writings to back that. But I have not read everything he wrote feel free to link me up.

Outrage over the sexuality of outsider groups is a conservative play book distraction.

who said he's a conservative? my point was that non-contextualizing the spirit of his writing is a poor showing when it comes to using it as argument.

I said I don't give a flying fuck what his opinions on Muslims are - the Muslim thing doesn't interest me in the slightest. I agree with him 101% on everything he says about the 'culture wars' and social justice, I have no interest in listening to his talks on Islam in Europe.
