Dayum, funny thing is he is still one of the top five up and coming prospects at heavyweight lol.

I wouldn't call him a prospect. That train died after he fought Kongo IMO

really shits me that 95% of the UFC roster is younger than me these days. wank

If Mike Tyson was training grappling for the past 3 years, he'd be a top 10 HW fighter in the UFC right now.

dang why do fighters age so fast, used to be really excited about meathead

some on this board will tell you he is 3 or 4 years away from his prime, so he should have a bright future.

Kongo can make talented inexperienced guys look very average to bad. Look at this fights with Jordan and Browne. Losing to him by decision (or draw in Browne's case) isn't a terrible thing.

However, add in that KO loss to Nelson and Schuab, then you have a trifecta of defeat to gatekeepers. I don't know when I lost faith in Matt, because I used to see a lot of potential in the guy. Along the way though, I certainly abandoned any hope of him cracking the upper echelon of the division or living up to the prospect status.

He is 50 and his skills dropped in his 20s. He never was the same after going to jail.

He blew 300 million dollars. I think once you do that its clearly a time too review your life and life choices. He also lost all that childhood angst living the lifestyle he had.

I've seen video of him punching the bag with Hendricks and it gave me chills because it's still there. He just doesn't feel it anymore Tyson would probably let dude take him down and tap him out nowadays.

Would have loved to see Tyson vs Royce fight but that would have changed the whole landscaped that early on in the UFC days.

That said Wow Meathead is old.

Most of the "prospects" at HW are kinda old. Browne, Schaub and Micoic are all 30+. Besides Rosholt and maybe Struve, there's not a lot of young promising guys in the division.

Schaub submitted him. I believed Meathead had potential. I was wrong.

There are some solid young HW prospects out there. That division just gets neglected. If they spent half as much time building HW as they spend on women and the atrocious flyweights, it would be one of the best divisions.

Haha, yeah. That about sums it up. When Lavar can go three rounds without getting tapped and rock him from bottom, it doesn't reflect well on Mitrione.
