I was listening to a MMA podcast and one of the hosts mentioned how Matt Lindland talked about Chael's mental problems with regards to competition, the problems Chael talked about on Rogan's podcast.

Can anyone give a link to where Lindland talked about this?

The most I could find is this:

http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2012/7/8/3144611/ufc-148-results-chael-sonnen-anderson-silva-loser

Sonnen's coach at the time, Matt Lindland summed up Sonnen's issues with this brutally honest soundbite, "I've said this before as his coach: He'll put the work in, and he'll stay dedicated, and he'll stay focused," he said. "He's an incredible athlete. He's got all the tools. But in fighting, you have to be a tough mother[expletive]. And he's just not very tough."

Lindland was in Sonnen's corner before the fifth round of UFC 117 begging him to hold on for the win but fearing that Sonnen would look for, and find, a way to lose.

As accomplished as Chael Sonnen is as an athlete, his two careers have both peaked with silver medal performances. As a Greco-Roman wrestler Sonnen took second place in the 2000 World University Championships and as an MMA fighter he twice fought for the UFC belt and came up short.

Does anyone have a link to the interview where he actually used that phrase, Second Place Sonnen?

He fought 3 times for a UFC belt.

Even though the Jones match-up was an absolute joke.

Edit: This is an old ass article.

Inb4 people bash Lindland for "only" winning a silver medal

This may or may not be true but lindland suffered some vicious knockouts so who knows- maybe his brain is scrambled

Cheal did better against Anderson and others than Lindland would have done, coming second or not

Prime Lindland would have been a handful for Silva back in the day.

"he stank, his bref stank," - Quinton Jackson, referencing Lindland's hygiene

Sonnens career over Lindlands career only because of the way Sonnen earned his way into a title shot at MW, then talked his way into being a main event fixture and made millions of dollars.

As far as prime Lindland vs. prime Anderson Silva...Silva by KO.

all respect was lost for sonnen a long... long time ago...

I don't think he was "looking for a way out" in the first Anderson fight. Lindland's just using Sonnen's words against him whenever he loses a fight.
