Just the first answer.
They gave him a title, a paycheck and the fans wrote a check or paid - so he likes to meet them.

Holy Shit Matt seems to have matured and mellowed out.

Conor will be taking his job in a couple months. After his second ass whopping he'll be lucky if he ever fights again. Dana will be there to pickup the pieces.

Was never really a fan of old "Country Breakfast". Just not a fan of rednecks in general. But I do enjoy his frank honesty.

Unlike many on this site I always liked Hughes. Good interview, and good on Matt for being happy to give back to fans.

Amazing it took for him to retire for me to like him..?

Honest indeed. Still don't like the guy though.

the most surprising thing to me is that he's only been hunting for 10 years

i figured he would have grown up hunting

Nice interview. Thanks for posting. Matt is great.

yea, he wasnt PC, he was a guy who spoke his mind, sometimes his thoughts were dickish and arrogant - but he was a legit fighter who didnt pull out of fights, always was class after a fight win or loss, and a guy you could rely on to say what a lot of people were thinking - when he was champ and arrogant, predictably, the mma fanbase hated him - i think it even impacted his legacy for a bit, but since some time has passed, people have come to respect him more and more, i feel

Even though he came off extremely nice and likable in this interview, I still find it hard to like him after reading his book.

Yeah he was full of himself. The fact that he's an outspoken Christian didn't help - the whole 'bible thumping hick' stereotype, and all that.

He wasn't as bad as people made out though, and he was a great champion - always came to fight, and man, his fights were exciting! Plus he hammered Trigg, so he's aight by me.

I don't like him. I think he's an arrogant jackass moron face.

Great fighter but still don't like him. I have no problem with hunting, Christianity or good ol fashion country livin' but I know two guys who've trained with him, and both said he was a pompous, condescending a-hole. I want to like the guy but just can't based on what I know of him. Plus some of the stuff in his book.... eesh.

Matt had a lot to do with me getting back into watching and really getting into the fights - of course, i wanted his cocky azz to get flattened by GSP, but now that he is not the UFC hype machine (im mean, who else wins the title while unconscious) he is not so bad.

To be fair, when Hughes won both he and Newton were unconscious.
