1, 10, 100, 1000, 10000, 100000...
You're soliciting Sherdoggers to do your kid's homework for you?Looking to find a set of integers such that the sum of any subset of the set is unique. For instance - 1,3,5 works. 1+3, 1+5, 3+5, do not equal each other or any individual number in the set. But 2,3,5 doesnt. 2+3=5.
Anyone have any ideas on how to go about generating such a set? 2^n works, but I would like to find a set with at least 8 numbers on the same order of magnitude.
what is this evil
That is called common core, and it has been implemented in certain school districts across America (mainly in blue states). It takes something as straightforward as math and turns into something nonsensical. It's as though they are trying to make children stupider instead of smarter.my thoughts exactly, what kind of magic is this
Can any of yous help me with my problem.
What is the right answer to 5 3/4 × 3 3/4 inches.
Are you trying to calculate the area of a holographic projection of your schwanz? You had it right the first time, but that's kind of a strange way to do it.Can any of yous help me with my problem.

Teacher is an idiot and this kid's handwriting sucks.
Are you serious? First of all inches*inches is inches^2. (5+1/2)*(3+3/4) = 15 + 15/4 + 3/2 + 3/8 = 15 + 30/8 +12/8 + 3/8 = 15 + 45/8 = 15 + 5 + 5/8 = 20 + 5/8 = 20 5/8.
Or, 20.625 inches^2.
This is 4th grade arithmetic.

I forgot how to do all this. So when do you cross multiply the fractions? Like I was trying to do when I came up with 16 1/2 inches.

Never.
But cross multiply is a real thing right? I swear I remember being thought that you multiply the Domatertor? (bottom number) with the numerator?( top number) when multiplying fractions.
Like say you have 1/2 time 3/4. You time 2 x 3 and 1 time 4 and get 6/4 and than break it down to 1 2/4 and than reduce it to 1 1/2.
lol you can blame @Smokes for that.Dafuq ? Bumping a 3 1/2 year old math thread? And you didn't even tag @Thunderhead.
Ahh... no. First it's denominator.
1/2*3/4 = 3/8.
Think about it... 1/2 is 0.5 and 3/4 is 0.75. So you're multiply two numbers less than 1. How the hell can that be greater than 1?

Of course you are. What else would you be doing?Speak of the devil. I'm at a Starbucks, reviewing my linear algebra at this moment.

Just change to decimal. 5.5 X 3.75Can any of yous help me with my problem.
