I think the match choices in the article by Brian Knapp was lacking so I decided to make a thread of fights I'd make after ufc 160. Feel free to join in, give me your ideas for matches to make and criticize my choices.
TJ Grant vs Ben Henderson: Maybe its pointless to add this one here, since they marketed the whole fight on solely the fact its the #1 contender fight.
Teixeira vs who? The article talked about Phil Davis, but I dont agree on that. After a quick demolition of Te Huna and being 4-0, I think Glover should get a higher caliber opponent like Rashad or maybe Gustaffson.
Te Huna vs Maldonado
Bigfoot vs Roy Nelson vs Miocic winner: I just want to see Barnett vs Mir so bad and both men getting older so it needs to happen now if it ever ought to even happen. Also. I feel like Roy has been cheated proper competition. If Nelson happens to win against Miocic aswell, he will be in a 4-fight win streak, which is very rare in the current HW division..
For Mark Hunt I'd give Nelson vs Miocic loser. I love Mark Hunt, but the fight against JDS just showed, he isnt some young man anymore. He can still take punches like a boss, but is that enough? He seemed significantly slower than JDS throughout the whole match.
Maynard vs Melendez: This pick was spot on, the fight will be one helluva scrap. On a sidenote, is Maynards chin fading or is he just prone to getting hit and getting swarmed for a finish?
Cerrone vs Pearson: Cerrone gave an impressive comeback performance after a loss, but I think Cerrone needs another victory under his belt to get into the top competition and Pearson is currently in the same situation.
(For those who wonder, I'd pair up Thompson with Healy, after Healy recovers from the pot incident)
Im really torn whether I would like to see JDS vs Velasquez rubbermatch this early. Id love to see Underreem vs JDS, and unfortunately that will probably never happen if JDS becomes the champion again. Also, I think Werdum should get the titleshot if (when) he gets past Nogueira.
