Jan Blachowicz vs Teixeira/Prochazka Winner – I think we're either getting a rematch or a fun fight with Jiri. Jan basically defended his position as top contender. Great win for the former champion.
Aleksandar Rakic vs Craig/Volkan Winner – Rakic was turned away by Blachowicz, but remains a top 5 light heavyweight – the winner of Craig/Volkan makes sense, but then so does the winner of Santos/Hill. Bottom line: Rakic now has to defend his ranking.
Ryan Spann vs Dominick Reyes – Spann got the finish in a kill-or-be-killed fight with Cutelaba, so he gets the chance to look up the rankings – at a monster like Dominick Reyes. Reyes badly needs a win, and this fight would NOT go the distance.
Ion Cutelaba vs Tyson Pedro – You know who would square up to Cutelaba and his intense antics? Tyson Pedro. Pedro is a dangerous dude, who has had a baptism of fire in the UFC – but he bounced back off a three year lay off by smashing Villanueva. They can either build his record, or put him back into the kind of firefights we all want to see.
Davey Grant vs Kyler Phillips – You feeling this one? Kyler is great, Grant is great, these two won't back down and we WILL get some awesome techniques! It might be that Kyler has the higher ceiling, but damn... at this point in time, this is a fun fight!
Louis Smolka vs Guido Cannetti – I think Cannetti gets disrespected a little bit, but he's still here at the age of 42 and crushed Moutinho last time out. I'd like to see him fight Smolka, who is absolutely tough as nails, and with great cardio. I want to see Smolka around for a long time, but I also want to see Guido get a fun fight worthy of his veteran status.
Katlyn Chookagian vs Manon Fiorot – The two biggest flyweights (?) could put on a great fight if they keep it standing – either the endless output of Katlyn gets it done, or the power of Fiorot is too much – either way, it won't be dull!
Amanda Ribas vs Cyborg Justino – Only kidding! But Ribas vs Chook made nearly as much sense...
Amanda Ribas vs Jennifer Maia – if Ribas stays at 125, Jennifer Maia would be a very interesting fight. Winnable for Ribas, the #7 ranked flyweight would have been a better opponent than Chookagian in the first place – but the UFC kinda went the 'random' route and now need to give Ribas a fight more suited to her experience/ranking.
Manuel Torres vs Natan Levy – Levy picked up a win over Mike Breeden, and has looked okay at times – but with a few weaknesses. That said, he's the ideal fighter to engage in a firefight with Torres, IMO, as both look to establish themselves in the stacked 155 division.
Frank Camacho – CUT- Enough said, really. Been finished in the first round three times in a row, and for a tough dude, that just tells me he isn't at this level.
Allan Nascimento vs Malcolm Gordon – No question Allan needs to put a few wins together before he's eligible for ranking, but there's also no question he has the talent to get there. I like the Malcolm Gordon fight, 'X' fights generally do not go the distance and I think if someone got a finish here, it would be a statement win for either.
Jake Hadley vs Victor Altamirano – Hadley is still legit, that was just too much, too soon. I'd like to see him matched with a fighter that's on a similar footing, an up-and-comer who failed to win their UFC debut.
Viviane Araujo vs Alexa Grasso – Grasso is good, but probably not getting a title shot just yet – I'd like to her see her matched with the tough Araujo and see who the more legitimate contender is in this division.
Andrea Lee vs Tracy Cortez – And now this fight suddenly makes sense, with Cortez the new #15 ranked flyweight, and in need of a step up in competition and experience. I think this works all round.
Michael Johnson vs John Makdessi – How wild would it be to have Michael Johnson vs John Makdessi in 2022 given both debuted in 2010? I'm sure it would be an entertaining firefight, too. Book it before it's too late!
Alan Patrick – CUT – Alan is 38, he's had a good run in the UFC, but he's now 0-3 (1 NC) in his last four. I suppose you could give him a rookie ala Mason Jones, but you could probably save a bit of money by cutting him.
Virna Jandiroba vs Tecia Torres – Only three of the best have beaten Virna, with Esparza, Dern and Ribas all picking up decision wins against the tricky Brazilian. Tecia Torres could be Virna's ticket to a top ten ranking, or she could be another good UFC Strawweight that's able to repel the heavy-handed grappler.
Angela Hill vs Lupita Godinez – Godinez has been impressive so far in her UFC tenure, and I think Hill is effectively the strawweight division's gatekeeper to the top 15. She's tricky, she's hard to beat (usually), and she'll be a great test for the active Godinez.
Tatsuro Taira vs Francisco Figueiredo – Feels like a step up for Taira, but he was too good for Carlos – too skilled, and with a great display of grappling and heavy ground 'n' pound. Figueiredo has a few questions to answer, and Taira probably just eats up the lower end of the Flyweight division – so let's fast track him a tiny bit, and give him Francisco.
Carlos Candelario vs Daniel da Silva – So Carlos lost his UFC debut, and narrowly lost on DWCS as well. He's still game, and he asked a few questions of the Japanese prospect. Daniel da Silva is 0-2 in the UFC, so both will be need to pick up a win in the worst way.
Andre Petroski vs Gerald Meerschaert – Sure, why not? Petroski asked for it, Gerald is an uber-vet that has been around for what feels like forever, he tends to be a tough test for up-and-comers, so sure – could be a fun grapple.
Nick Maximov vs Dalcha Lungiambula – That didn't go according to plan for Maximov... after getting choked out so quickly, it's time for a different kind of challenge. Lungiambula did get tapped by Brundage, who Maximov beat, but I don't think it's necessarily a sure thing. Maximov is pretty one dimensional.
