Mastering the Basics: The Flying Omoplata

I've never seen that before, pretty cool!. Is this part of a series called "mastering the basics"?

This is a much better way:

I'm pretty sure these guys have hit this in tournaments. I hit it in training from time to time, but never in a tournament... at least not yet.

there's also another version off the whizzer that I like even better, but i's less impressive.

Yeah, in the first vid I think the guy spins unnecessarily.

The Mendes version looks higher percentage to me.

Somehow, "mastering the basics" and "flying omoplata" don't sound right together.

I think I would have a better chance of landing this one. Realistically however, the result in either case would be me landing directly on my head

Yeah, somehow I don't see Rickson, Saulo, Xande, Royler, Roger, Braulio, et. al. teaching this as a basic or ever using this in a tournament. Jacare is about the only guy I know that does flying-anything that I think has super solid jiu-jitsu.

That's why it's funny.

Would Camarillo come close? the bloke loves the flying sub

I'll revist this in 3 years, for now I'll be happy getting a good solid cross collar choke from mount down

Kinda funny this comes up, I was honestly just around with a buddy from the gym about hitting him with a flying omoplata sometime.

Looks exactly how I thought it would be too lol

Thanks. nice videos.

Quite simple to execute. Something i will try in my next lesson man.,

Basic? More like intro lesson material.

Yeah, I've done it off the whizzer, rolling into it. Well, I didn't finish it, but I had the guy in the omoplata and he escaped.

Camarillo and many others. Like the MENDES BROTHERS IN THE VIDEO I POSTED. that statement you replied to was so ignorant I had to ignore it at first, but then I realized he mustn't know who Rafa and Gui Mendes are...

There's a lot of solid players that do flying subs. You can't just name off a few old-school and elite guys (that of course wouldn't use flying subs because it doesn't fit their style at all), and use that as evidence to say flying subs are useless. Shoot, look what happened to Pe De Pano at ADCC.
