Rico Abednego Neequaye Marley draw from that your own conclusions. He was wearing body armor and had a ski-mask in his possession. Was this an attempted armed robbery? I mean, who goes into the store first to set up?

An Instacart shopper who entered an Atlanta supermarket bathroom this week told police he saw an AR-15 style rifle and heard what he believed was the sound of someone loading guns in a bathroom stall.

The witness rushed out of the bathroom and notified staff at the Publix Supermarket. When police arrived soon after, they arrested a suspect as he was exiting the bathroom -- with six guns in his possession.
The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Rico Marley, now faces a slew of charges related to the incident, which came just days after 10 people were killed in a mass shooting at a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado.

It was that tragedy that was fresh in the mind of the Instacart shopper, Charles Russell, he told CNN affiliate WSB.

"I saw an AR-15," he said. "And I was like, you know, this kind of startled me just again with events that recently happened in the grocery store up in Colorado."

Authorities have not said what they believed Marley intended to do with the weapons.
According to the police incident report, the witness was entering the men's restroom when he "heard clicking sounds from the bathroom stall."

"It sounded to him like someone was loading firearms," an Atlanta officer wrote. "He also told me that he saw an AR-15 style rifle leaned against the wall."

By the time the officer arrived at Atlantic Station -- a commercial and residential complex in Atlanta just north of downtown -- the supermarket appeared to have been evacuated, the report says.

The officer wrote that he donned a ballistic helmet and took his city-issued rifle into the store, where he immediately saw the suspect coming around the corner from the restroom, just feet away. The officer ordered the suspect to put his hands up and not move, the incident report says.

"The accused appeared to be surprised when he saw us that close to him," the officer wrote. Marley was detained without incident, the report says.

After arresting Marley, police recovered body armor and six firearms -- including two long guns and four hand guns.

Marley has been charged with six counts of possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies and five counts of criminal attempt to commit a felony.

Marley, who's being represented by a Fulton County public defender, waived his first court appearance Thursday, where Judge Rashida Oliver ordered him to be held without bond due to the "danger risk to the community at large." He's being held in the Fulton County Jail.

The Fulton County Public Defender's Office did not respond to CNN's request for comment Thursday.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Publix said the company was cooperating with investigators and that "the safety of our associates and our customers is our priority."

"We are thankful that there were no injuries, and all were able to exit the store safely."

It will be interesting to see what his motive was and what he was planning

"If you see something, say something."
This actually was a thing years back , post 9/11 but I believe it was considered racist. I remember PSA's about it, "if you see something suspicious, speak up".

It'll come down to "he was there to kill" versus his defense lawyer's "he hadn't done anything, it's a misunderstanding".

Yeah it was our mantra back when I was on active duty.

Crazy. If the guy was locked and loaded, why did he surrender instead of just start shooting?

Police have the drop on him the moment he stepped out of the shitter? Good job by them and the guy who reported immediately

also why six guns? You can’t use that many at a time. He gonna try to argue it was all for a scare/Prank? Weird case. Glad it got resolved as it did.

Yeh I think they had to reprint all signs to read,

"if you see something....then you're probably racist "

Any pics of the suspect? I need to know what color he is before I know if I should be outraged or if this was just a mostly peaceful act of an oppressed minority.

I'm pretty sure he's black because I saw some forever oppressed people talking shit about it on reddit yesterday. They were saying we can't use this as the one good example of cops not killing a black suspect. That this was such a rare occasion. #ForeverOppressed

In San Bernardino the neighbors were worried about being labeled racists so they did not speak out.

So people died.

Thanks, I can now make up my mind and my official stance is that this incident was caused by systemic racism, I can go about my day now.

That looks like he was going on offense. Anyway, spin away my liberal friends.

Wow, an attempted copycat during a cycle of bell to bell "mass shooting" coverage that guarantees fame to any sick fuck who decides to kill a bunch of people?

<Cage33>

This is totally unpredictable, and I certainly didn't predict it 5 days ago and say exactly how the same thing happens every time the news media decide to run a month long news cycle about mass shooters, and was of course called a "POS" and "garbage human" by at least 5 lefties for noticing what happens every time the news decide they want to make it mass shooting season, though I suspect in this case they'll focus a lot less on the suspect for some unknown reason.

So why is it in and out of the news cycle in 2 month waves? Yeah, because you post things like this that include gang violence and drive by shootings as "mass shootings" to pump up the numbers. You get an actual one like the dude in Atlanta, plaster his face all over, which leads to another one less than a week later, and probably another one in the next few weeks,

Any pics of the suspect? I need to know what color he is before I know if I should be outraged or if this was just a mostly peaceful act of an oppressed minority.

Looks like a white supremacist to me. Probably inspired by Trump, which clearly warrants another impeachment.
