    Thanos vs Galactus

I don't know much about these two villains except they are supposed to be two of the baddest motherfuckers in the Marvel universe. So who wins in the following two scenarios?

Scenario 1: Thanos does NOT have the Infinity Gauntlet
Scenario 1: Thanos DOES have the Infinity Gauntlet

Doesn't Thanos destroy fucking worlds when he DOESN'T have the gauntlet just because he can?

Scenario 2 is the only actual fight here. Thanos with the gauntlet crushes Galactus. Utterly crushes - quite literally, with a thought. This is a bigger power difference than Hulk VS Aunt Mae.

    Scenario 1 goes like this...

Galactus in a standup fight, easy. Thanos wins if it's a prep-time/scheming battle. In an actual fight they had, it opened like this:

    Thanos sucker punching him.

    Galactus actually shows visible damage:

    Galactus catches Thanos, decimating him:

So, Galactus stomps in a standup fight.

That being said,Thanos eventually achieves the following by having Galactus get smashed between two planets as they collide.

I'd say Thanos is a much more effective schemer. If it came down to them outthinking each other, Thanos would have a big advantage over Galactus, I believe.

Not really. He MIGHT have the power to - might - but if he does, he hasn't ever exercised it to my knowledge, and I've read all of his comics up until a year ago.

He is a powerful dude though, but his two greatest attributes are his intellect and his durability. Considering he can match The Hulk for strength and out energy project the Silver Surfer, his brain and durability are off the charts.

Pretty much - though he's a *hell* of a lot more powerful, at base, than Batman, and I daresay his motives are more complex... My personal favourite character.

I'm surprised he has so many fans. The only person who can beat him is himself. Albeit I haven't read the comics, he sounds boring.

I used to think that to but I would argue it's Punisher. Iron Man's suit borders on magical in some instances (the nanobot version especially). Frank is like Bruce... literally just a regular guy with a set of weapons. Only real difference is that Frank has allowed himself to kill.

Don't talk until you've read the comics then ;) Thanos is at best a very low cosmic character - just a notch below a Skyfather like Odin (who he has an awesome fight with, by the way) - from an actual power perspective. "No one can beat him but himself" isn't entirely accurate.

He's not a "world domination" character for most of his existence - half the time he's a backhanded protector of the universe, inserting himself into the schemes of heroes or other villains, trying to maintain cosmic balance after he became supreme and discovered he didn't really care for it. Really, the character was terrible before the Infinity Gauntlet saga, had a cool arc through that, and then got really interesting after he became a free agent...

He's no two-dimensional Darkseid and is anything but boring.

Hah... I daresay Batman borders on magic a lot of the time "because Batman" ;) Hell, the guy beat the Justice League on his own, he's batkicked Spectre, he competes with cosmic entities that should kill him by breathing on him. His most powerful battlesuit is likely more powerful than Tony's best too. Yes, Batman's Hellbat suit, and possibly the Justice Buster, is probably more powerful than Tony's best suit... He is not the Punisher.

With the IG, then Thanos. Without, it's Galactus.

    Franklin Richards crushes non-IG Thanos.

Let's be real, he's just a journeyman alien without the gauntlet.

Meh, so does Mad Jim Jaspers, Jean Grey in the right mindset, and the Molecule Man actually operating at his potential. *Lots* of people beat Thanos is a stand up fight... That's really not what's neat about the charater.

what is it then? His eternally creepy and stalkerish obsession with Death? Doesnt he basically genocide entire solar systems just so he can catch her attention?
