Juan Manuel Marquez was set for a March 17 tune-up before a potential fight against WBA and IBF junior welterweight titlist Lamont Peterson, but that may be pushed back until April 14 or April 21 in Mexico. Peterson may also fight on the card, and David Diaz has been rumored as a Marquez opponent.

A fight between Marquez and Peterson, which is being targeted for July 14 in Cowboys Stadium, would be on PPV, according to Ernesto Castellanos.

Why the hell would this be a ppv fight?

I mean it has the potential to be a great fight, but I don't see it as something that will sell too easily.

greed. They deserve to fail with stuff like this.

Cuz JMM fans will buy it.

JMM can probably draw like 300k on his own. I don't think this fight warrants a PPV though unless they stack the under card.

Seems like every year there is always one PPV that shouldn't be PPV. The last two years BHop was in both.

Marquez deserves a ppv match after his last performence and Peterson is no joke at this point. Also theres not manny big fights you could put quez in exept the long awaited Morales fight. Its tuff.

I want to say some really really bad things about Arum right now.

Cowboys Stadium and PPV without Pacquiao makes me think Top Rank will make an effort to put on a good undercard.

Even with that though, it won't do good numbers. The third boxing PPV in three months.

Yea I still dont think it's a good idea to toss up Marquez and a relatively unknown Peterson on a PPV event at Cowboy Stadium.

Maybe if they're thinking double or even triple header.. that may be a different story.

Since Peterson is fighting Khan, that leaves Marquez in need of an opponent.

and according to Steve Kim's twitter:

As for Juan Manuel Marquez, Bob Arum just told me that he is still planning to have him fight at Cowboys Stadium on July 14th #boxing

I vote for the winner of Gamboa vs Rios.

So this must be off now if Peterson is fighting Khan.

Also isn't JMM a new draw among Mexicans? What makes them think he can sell well in a stadium? Maybe a Chavez or Alvarez fight could push the needle. New Cotto vs New JMM?
