Law Marine jailed for speaking out about Afghan withdrawal

he probably should have done this after he got out of the military it just wasn't a smart move a person in his high ranking position should be smarter with his chess moves.
 
I figure he had to know he'd end up in the brig if not court martialed, and that's part of his protest.
Seemed to get steadily more unhinged with his later videos though.
Apparently he's up for: Article 88: Contempt toward officials, Article 90: Willfully disobeying a superior commissioned officer, Article 92: Failure to obey an order, and Article 133: Conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman.
 
He disobeyed a direct order. He knew he would be arrested.

The only question is what kind of discharge He will get.
 
Considering that one of the videos he was more or less implying the threat of armed insurrection, I'm not surprised at all.

Seriously doubt that.

To be honest this guy needs to be made an example of what you can't do as a member of our military. The only way it works is the chain of command, at no time can anyone start giving our opinions on anything, that will not work.

Like I said if you aren't prepared to play robot stay away from the military.

There is no such thing as.......but why?
 
Meh... Was threatened wth an Article15 for speaking ill of Bush.

Was explained to me by a major that regardless of how right i was, I gave up the right to say it as he is i my chain of command.
 
Seems very anti-American that the people entrusted to give us safety and stability don't get to enjoy the 1st amendment like a normal citizen. I get being dishonorably discharged as he can't do the job in good faith after what he did, but he didn't put people at risk with his actions and was just voicing his dissent.

If you're going to lock up the LT then the Gen should be as well. Of the two, the Gen's actions could be argued as treasonous while the LTs was merely insubordination.

He wasn't wrong, but you can't publicly criticize your leaders in the military. You learn that in boot camp.

For starters, he knew he was going to end up in prison and at one point refers to his superior officer by rank and name and says I’m ready for the brig now sir. He understood his actions had consequences. It was a calculated decision he made and he is at the end of his career. My guess is forced retirement and when you retire your pay status reflects the highest rank held. That being said, military leadership have been making themselves look inept and spineless for a while now. I have no idea if he thought he was going to spark some kind of dialogue or this is all a political stunt but it’ll likely work out in his favor once he retires from the Marines.

He probably was demoted as well. The sincerity in this is weak because he could have just retired and then criticized the military all he wanted.
