So tomorrow I decided I'm going to contact an officer selection officer for Platoon Leaders Class in the Marine Corps. I've known for a while going the officer route was what I wanted to do. Had a candidacy with the Naval Academy but I decided against that route. I think PLC would be the best thing for what I'm looking to do. Anyone ever done it or ever been an officer?

A bunch of my family has given me the enlisted aspect of it and how boot camp would be but nobody has been an officer. How is it?

Just go enlisted. There's a reason why LCD is staffed by enlisted.

I graduated from Corporal's leadership course in Quantico and the building we used was right next to the Officer's Infantry School. Their chow hall was hooked the fuck up.

The training itself is not as intense as the enlisted training, but is more difficult.....if that makes any sense. From what I've seen, they don't put so much emphasis on stuffing discipline down your throat or thrashing you, they focus more on leadership building classes and improving the skills required to lead a platoon of grunts, etc. They do spend a lot of time improving physical fitness. They have some ridiculously large obstacle course right across the street.

If you have the opportunity, I would definitely go in as an officer vs enlisted.

EDIT: also note that being an enlisted guy sucks for the first few years. Unless you want to spend the first half of your contract mopping floors and getting treated like an absolute bitch by 21 year old guys, then I would suggest becoming an officer.

You could get a chance to mess with some really impressive technology in the Navy and you might even leave with an applicable trade.

I'm looking to go into Aviation. I'd love to fly a helicopter. Is getting into this program difficult?
