Ok? I mean, I guess that's a way to get a top fighter with a bit of stunted momentum some wins again. I mean Jandiroba could win, but the strength of opponents is just different. Check the last 6 opponents for both:
Lemos, Xiaonan, Dern, Waterson, Ribas, and Esparza vs
Hill, Ribas, Murata, Dern, Herrig, and Martin.

The two common opponents, Ribas and Dern? Both beat Virna and lost to Marina. Just seems a bit spaced, but I'll watch.

Rodriguez looked pretty bad last time out against Lemos and Jandiroba seems to be quietly getting better. I was super impressed with her win over a underrated Hill.

I think this fight will be razor close but I'm picking the takedowns to overcome the power on the feet. I really like this matchup anyway it goes it should be fun.

UFC doesn’t seem to favor Marina when she tends to be in entertaining fights. She arguably earned her title shot before the Lemos loss. Would’ve liked to see her against Rose. This fight doesn’t really make sense.

M Rod is coming for that strap...

I suspect it has more to do with the ranked fighters Marina hasn't fought not wanting to fight her than the UFC trying to gift her a win.

Jandiroba is the only fighter ranked in the Top 10, other than Weili/Rose/Andrade, who she hasn't fought. I wouldn't be surprised if they cut Marina if she loses.

True, but it doesn't mean rematches shouldn't happen. She fought Carla 6 fights ago (in a fight most people thought she won), basically got to top contender status since then and just lost, so the recently deposed champ should be in punching range, since they're both off of losses. I'll give ya that it's too soon to do Yan and Dern again, and no one knows where Rose is, but honestly, the perfect fight for her would probably be Andrade, who just suffered her own loss despite being near the top of 2 divisions.

I mean when your efforts against the rankings look like:
#1 Carla Esparza LOSS
#2 Rose Namajunas ____
#3 Amanda Lemos LOSS
#4 Marina Rodriguez (self)
#5 Xiaonan Yan WIN
#6 Jessica Andrade ____
#7 Mackenzie Dern WIN
#8 Tecia Torres WIN
#9 Amanda Ribas WIN
#10 Virna Jandiroba ____

There are some immediate tells of where you'd think she goes. I get that timing throws booking off, but I can't think of anything more dejecting that booking that suggests your wins don't matter. I wouldn't think I could beat someone just cuz the person I just beat, just beat that person, but I'd be confused as fuck as to why I'd need to fight them. Or, if I just got a really respectable streak, but I got leapfrogged because the person who just lost 2 title matches in a row got a favorable opponent (the last person she beat, who hasn't fought since), while my loss shoots me to fighting nearly outside the top 10? Gotta make ya feel like, what's the point? Better put on an Irish accent, then drop my striking classes for some twitter seminars.

Win for Marina.

Jandiroba has nothing to fear on the feet, so can focus entirely on not getting taken down by a very slow Virna, and the best way to do that is maintain distance.

Should be a comfortable stick-and-move win for Marina, and I wouldn't be surprised if Virna got stopped for the first time (although I wouldn't be surprised if she survived either - she's tough!)

Well, the UFC screwed Rodriguez by not giving her a title shot when she was the number one challenger. So, maybe this tune-up fight is kind of compensation. If she executes her game plan, she should beat up Jandiroba and looks amazing doing it. That will put he back in the conversation for a title shot.
