in before "Marilyn Manson is still around?"

Have any Manson fans or past Manson fans absorbed his new album yet? I think it's excellent. The guy had been stuck in mediocrity for nearly 15 years since Holy Wood(man, can't believe it's been that long) and while he has a decent song here and there since that album(mostly covers), his past 4 albums were official dust collectors after the first week of release. Hell, i went to a local record store and they literally still have over 30 copies of the album "High End of Low" on display near the M section. That album is about 7 years old and they are still stocked to the rim with it as if it was the day it was released. Plus, he sounded incredibly bored, uninspired, and mostly old on his last several albums.

I had stopped paying attention to the guy some years ago and peeped his newer stuff when i got around to it. Born Villian was was a step up, but in the end, my favorite song on it was a live Carly Simon cover of "You're so Vain".

Then i saw an ad on this forum that said he had a new album out. I figured what the hell.

The album caught me right way, and i listened to it all the way through and even listened to a few songs multiple times. The music is an evolution in his sound though it still has some of the old signature sounds from his hey day of Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals. He sounds much younger and incredibly inspired. Maybe he sobered up a bit. It's a good album all the way through.

Thoughts for those who have heard it?

    cliffs:

    -New Marilyn Manson album
-He hasn't released anything of note for close to 15 years except a Depeche Mode cover.
-Saw ad for new album on sherdog
    - Listened to new album and loved it

I will check it out. I hope it is better than his last few albums, that were total sheet.

Antichrist Superstar and Mechanical Animals were kickass, imo.

Heard the new single Six Deep or whatever it's called. It's not bad. I normally only listen to Manson, The Union Underground Etc when I work out.

I used to be a huge fan of his but I agree with you that after HolyWood it just got really bad.
After that it was literally just about one song off an album I liked - This is the New Shit, Heart Shaped Glasses.
The album Born Villain I really need to listen to more because I heard it once and was so disappointed I haven't touched it since.

I have heard positive stuff about the new album but I dunno, it just seems like his music really hasn't aged well.

I can't listen to him in the same way I can no longer listen to Slipknot.

I just don't have enough teenage angst left in me to enjoy it.
